Join Black Film Space for our next virtual event: How to Fund a Film: Financing for Features & Shorts.

This is a BFS members-only conversation with veteran producer and film finance expert Anne Marie Gillen on navigating the world of independent film financing for both short and feature films.

Ms. Gillen’s projects have premiered at Cannes and the New York Film Festival, earned Academy Award, Golden Globe, and Emmy recognition, and include ‘Fried Green Tomatoes’, ‘Under Suspicion’, and recent releases ‘The Man in the White Van’ and ‘Unholy Communion’.

This event will feature a presentation with slides and real-world examples, followed by an interactive conversation and audience Q&A.

Topics include film finance terminology, packaging a project, production deck and budget examples, securing investors, understanding key financing documents, grants and tax incentives, and practical strategies for financing independent films. Anne Marie will also draw from her extensive experience as a producer and film finance executive to share insights into what makes projects investment-ready.

What a night 🖤

Our 9th Annual Summer Mixer in New York City brought together filmmakers, actors, writers, editors, producers, and creatives from across the industry for an evening of conversation, new connections, film trivia and community.

A special thank you to our volunteers, who generously gave their time to help everything run smoothly. We truly couldn’t have done it without you!!

Thank you to everyone who came out and made this year’s mixer so special. We loved seeing familiar faces, meeting new members of the community, and watching so many new connections being made.

We’ll see you at the next one!
