The Consumer Price Index (CPI) measures price changes across a broad range of goods and services — including luxury items ALICE families simply aren’t buying.

The ALICE Essentials Index focuses only on the basics families need daily, including housing, food, child care, transportation, health care, and more.

In Idaho, the cost of those essentials rose even faster than overall inflation from 2007–2024:

📈 ALICE Essentials Index increased by about 72%

Every once in a while something happens that is so amazing it just rocks your world. Yesterday, 150 men at Idaho State Correctional Center threw our team a 5K Fundraiser, where the entire day was a gratitude celebration for us from them. All the participants paid to participate. They sponsored themselves for the laps they completed. For men that make between .30 and .40 cents per hour, this kind of generosity is something so beyond the imagination. They presented us with a check for over 1,000 dollars!!! There was an awesome sense of accomplishment across the yard. Giving back feeds our souls. We are meant to nourish one another. Our team could not be more proud of how these men represented yesterday, how they took a stand for second chances, how they showed up for us, and for the steps they take every day to strive towards their best life. We had an awesome Photo Booth backdrop screenprinted by the CI guys and there was music, food, & plenty of connections made. 🥰
