🚨CRNA Advocacy Alert 🚨

The U.S. Department of Education has now released its proposed rule classifying future CRNAs as “graduate students,” thereby 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐭 $𝟐𝟎,𝟓𝟎𝟎 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐚𝐠𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐭 $𝟏𝟎𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎. The proposed rule is open for public comment for 31 days. AANA will be submitting formal comments to the Department of Education, but it is critically important that they hear from as many individual providers and patients as possible. Please follow the instructions below to submit a comment today, and encourage your friends, family, and colleagues to participate as well.

Please note that the Department of Education will not be counting identical comments, so personalizing the letter is more important than ever. Ideas for personalization are listed below.

❇️ If you are an RN/RRNA, how would a reduced federal loan cap impact your ability to pursue your career as a CRNA?

Happy Mother’s Day!

𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫’𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲, especially to the “Mother of Anesthesia” 𝑨𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒘

Born in Cashocton (Ohio), Alice Magaw Kessel’s feats are legendary as she was THE trusted anesthesia expert of her time. She was bestowed the title of “Mother of Anesthesia” by Dr. Charles Mayo (Mayo Clinic co-founder) due to her expertise with administering open drop ether. Ms. Magaw performed 14,380 procedures with no fatalities.

Alice’s mastery in nurse anesthesiology was from her understanding of the importance of documentation, observation, and vigilance. In fact, Ms. Magaw had her scientific article on optimizing patient safety under anesthesia published by the Northwestern Lancet in 𝟭𝟴𝟵𝟵, which far precedes any published materials from any physician anesthesiology specialty member.
