This past Friday was the first day outing for the Bethesda Program. Multiple fly changes and cold water temps kept the fish caught to a minimum. Despite the cold temps fun was had by all. Many thanks to Pat Eisenhauer for hosting, and to Barbara Strausbaugh for the delicious breakfast and lunch, and Tom for the warming fire.
Thank you Brad Gentile for the pics.

Tags and Tigers
10 veterans from the Walter Reed and Project Healing Waters at Ft. Meade Programs came to Conewago Conservationists to compete in the annual Tags and Tigers Event. The day started off with a light breakfast provided by our gracious hosts Pat Eisenhauer, and Tom and Barbara Strausbaugh. Shortly after, the vets were paired up with their guides and off they went. The fishing started off pretty even with each veteran netting 4-5 fish each, then things started to heat up with a couple of tagged fish and and one or two tigers netted. In the end, Bill Boykin with his guide Larry Arthur were declared the winners. Even though Bill didn't catch the most fish he caught the ones that mattered, two tagged trout and a tiger trout. Erin Berg with her guide Kiki Galvin were awarded most fish caught with 14 and a tagged fish. All in all it was a great day with the remaining veterans, Val Takesue and guide Reece, Shannon Kirby and guide Steve Harry, Cliff Taylor and guide Steve Hughes catching multiple trout, and in the end Brian Allard was able to net a really nice brown trout.
Not to be forgotten, kudos to Mark Sofman for becoming the newest member of the Practice Pool Swim Team.

I had an interesting phone conversation with angling legend Tom Rosenbauer earlier this year. Tom, who has been the face of Orvis fly fishing for as far back as I can remember, called and wanted to talk trout fishing. Specifically, he asked me what folks need to do to become truly great fly fishers....

Had a few folks come to the meeting on Monday. Even signed up a new volunteer. Welcome Conrad Dear.
