Today is International Day of the Girl Child. AHA Foundation is working to end child marriage, FGM, and honor violence so that every girl can grow up safe and free to choose her own future. No tradition can justify harming a child.

Three years on from October 7, AHA Foundation stands with survivors. We stand with the women, men, and children of Israel who were abused and assaulted, and then ignored by the world—whose suffering is dismissed or justified by the bodies that should be standing in their defense. And we renew our commitment to believing survivors: believing victims of sexual and gender-based violence, no matter who they are, no matter their politics, and no matter the cost.

This National Child Health Day, we recognize that every child deserves to grow up healthy, safe, and free from harm. Yet female ge***al mutilation (FGM) continues to threaten the health and well-being of millions of girls worldwide, causing lifelong physical and psychological consequences.

At the AHA Foundation, we are committed to protecting girls, supporting survivors, and ending FGM. Because every child deserves the chance to thrive.

California has officially ended child marriage.

Governor Gavin Newsom signed AB 1267 into law, establishing 18 as the
minimum age for marriage with no exceptions. Previously a child of any age, with NO minimum age specified, could be entered into marriage in California.

This historic victory comes after nearly a decade of advocacy by
survivors and organizations committed to protecting children.
California is now the 18th state to ban child marriage, but 32 states
still leave girls vulnerable to this harmful practice.

Today, we celebrate the courage and persistence of the survivors who shared their stories and the advocates we fought alongside—including Unchained At Last and the other members of the California Coalition to End Child Marriage—and everyone who helped make this moment possible.

The work is not over. We will continue fighting until every child in every state is protected.
