At the recent Kids for Kids Fund Celebration, students at Burtonsville Elementary School selected CaringMatters as a grant recipient — awarding $1,000 to support grieving children and families in our community. Gilly Cannon, CaringMatters Senior Director of Children's Bereavement Services, was on hand to accept the grant on our behalf.

What makes this recognition especially meaningful is that these students put their hearts and minds into the decision-making process. They took the responsibility seriously, learning about community needs, listening to ideas, and thoughtfully choosing organizations they believed could make a difference.

This grant will help support students grieving the loss of a loved one, while also helping spread awareness about the importance of grief support for children and families.

Thank you to the students of Burtonsville Elementary School and The Giving Square, organizers of the Kids for Kids Fund Celebration, for believing in our mission and showing that young people can make a powerful impact in their communities.

The Kids for Kids Fund Celebration creates space for kids to think deeply about the issues they care about and the ways they can help strengthen their communities. Through thoughtful discussion and decision-making, they award a local kid-serving nonprofit with $1,000 in support of their work. ✨🌟

Last month, Ayuda received a grant at the Kids for Kids Fund Celebration. Thank you to The Giving Square and the incredible young philanthropists who put their hearts and minds into making thoughtful decisions about how to support their communities. 💙

We were deeply moved by the empathy, care, and intentionality the kids brought to the grantmaking process by learning about community needs, listening closely, and thoughtfully deciding where their support could make the greatest impact.

Our 2026 Solutions Decks are out! 📘📒📕📗

These are essential tools for students in our Kids for Kids Fund program to help prepare kids to grant $1,000 to a local, kid-serving non-profit. These decks feature kid-serving, local nonprofits that address issues that matter to kids, like education, basic needs, and more!

We can't wait to see which organizations are chosen this year!

💙 Happy !

💛 At The Giving Square, we love a day dedicated to spreading random kindness, but for the kids in our program, our acts of kindness aren't just random! They're learning to see the world through a lens of empathy, identifying needs in their communities, and taking intentional action to fix them.

💚 To our young philanthropists: thank you for reminding us that kindness shouldn't be a surprise; kindness is so much more powerful when it is intentional!

We wrapped up our pilot of our new program, Kids for Kids Animal Kingdom, and it was WILD! 🦁

🐶 We turned a simple idea from one student who proclaimed, "I just REALLY like animals!" into a whole new way to learn about giving back. 🐘 This program identifies specific ways to help, such as offering teamwork and kindness, by learning from animals!

Helping is a skill, and we rock it! 🪨

Last week, kids in two of our programs, Kids for Kids Intro and Kids for Kids Animal Kingdom, made “rock buddies” for children in the hospital, spreading comfort and kindness beyond the classroom walls.

By learning real-life helping practices in our programs, kids continue building their philanthropic skills for a lifetime of giving. Way to go, philanthropists! ✨
