and around the world, demystifying the rich and ancient tradition of Kuchipudi dance through exquisitely conceptualized and choreographed performances. It has also trained and developed new generations of Kuchipudi dancers in the U.S, while touring with them across the country and in India and South East Asia. Kalanidhi Dance aspires to maintain an uncompromising commitment to the highest standards of the Indian classical dance tradition while pushing its boundaries to experiment with different forms of artistic expression in dance to access new audiences.

Our sincere gratitude to everyone who joined us for Mitr. We were thrilled to perform to a full house and are incredibly grateful for the wonderful response from our audience.

Mitr was the culmination of months of collaboration, rehearsal, and dedication from everyone onstage and behind the scenes. Bijayini Didi’s conceptualization, choreography, and direction of Mitr is something KD will hold at the highest of regards for a very long time..

MITR is an ensemble collaboration between Kalanidhi Dance and Bijayini Satpathy Dance Collective.

Choreographed and Conceptualised by Bijayini Satpathy (Kalanidhi Dance’s 2025-2026 Artist -in -Residence)

Commissioned and Presented by Kalanidhi Dance

Odissi and Kuchipudi, each an old tradition, belong to the neighbouring states of Orissa and Andhra Pradesh and also Telengana, in India. Their evolution and journey share a long intersecting cultural and artistic history. MITR is a celebration of Kuchipudi and Odissi dance’s unique identities as well as their shared ethos.
