At our recent orientation, CDI headquarters was packed with all 48 new members of the Class of 2028 – our largest starting cohort ever!

Our commitment to CDI Scholars is significant in time and trust. We are there from the summer before their junior year of high school through to college graduation. But we cannot make these commitments on our own.

Your support is what makes it possible for us to look these young people in the eye and say “we will help you get to and through college.” Please consider supporting these aspiring young people on their pursuit of a college education – text SCHOLARS to 844-422-6444 to make a donation.

Wow, what a night! This past Wednesday filled our cups with so many reasons to celebrate:
• Honoring Dr. Chelsey Green for her leadership in arts education
• Hearing from Avisa Tonekaboni, CDI Class of 2023, about how being a CDI Scholar made her college dreams possible and how she plans to give back in her future career as a dentist
• Recognizing three couples for their visionary support of CDI – Sarah and Winthrop Brown, Denise and John Buchanan, and Nancy and Bob Carr
• CDI’s 400th (🎉🥂🎊) Scholar graduating from college this spring
• Being together for a lovely evening with so many passionate supporters of education!

We are so grateful to each and every person who joined us on Wednesday night: from our Scholars and alumni, to our founders and visionary donors, mentors and corporate partners, to brand new folks coming out to learn more about CDI for the first time. Thank you all for a beautiful evening 💐

We are delighted to announce as the 2026 CDI Marks Medal Honoree!

Dr. Chelsey Green is a cultural strategist, Billboard-charting recording artist, and Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Recording Academy® (The GRAMMYs®). She stands as the first Black woman and youngest person ever elected to lead the organization’s governing body in its 68-year history.

As bandleader and violinist of Chelsey Green and The Green Project, she leads an internationally touring ensemble whose genre-defying performances bridge classical, jazz, R&B, and contemporary music. Her collaborations with icons including Stevie Wonder, Maxwell, Lizzo, and the National Symphony Orchestra reflect the same boundary-crossing philosophy that defines her leadership and teaching.

Dr. Green will give the keynote address at CDI’s 16th Annual Benefit on May 6, 2026. Link to purchase tickets in bio!
