☀️ On a scorching day in Tempe, Arizona, tabby cat Guy ducked out of view behind a cactus.

Though temperatures reach well over 100 degrees Fahrenheit for much of the year, Guy and community cats like him are very much at home. They snooze beneath bushes in the hottest hours of the day and venture out to explore as the sun sets. 🌵

🇵🇷 Thousands of miles away, Llorin enjoys lazy days in the sun in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He and community cats like him are considered part of the culture and community of their island, and are cared for daily by local advocates. 🐈

We all have our scars. But Neo's, across his nose, doesn't just speak to what he's been through. It speaks to the power of access to care, and to the compassion and generosity that make it possible. 🐈‍⬛

Thanks to your support, we could provide Neo with lifesaving medical care and surgery to repair what was once a large wound spanning much of his face. Since that day, he has known nothing but love and comfort, including the companionship of other cats who welcomed him into their space.

Cruelty to cats must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. A strong penalty reflects the severity of the crime, delivers justice for the victim, and sends a clear message that no act of animal cruelty will be tolerated.

Alley Cat Allies sent a letter of gratitude to the prosecutor's office responsible for the record sentence of Rodney Travis Jr. in Virginia: 15 years in prison for deadly cruelty to multiple cats.

More than that, we offered our assistance with future animal cruelty cases at no cost. We have done the same across the nation. Strong sentences like these should be the norm, not the exception, for the sake of cats' well-being and us all. The link between violence toward animals and violence toward humans is well established.

In late September, a powerful nor’easter brought strong winds and heavy rain to the Jersey Shore and beyond, causing high tides along the coast that flooded streets and knocked out power in some areas.

Alley Cat Allies’ Rapid Response Team was on the ground immediately, protecting the Boardwalk Cats, searching for cats in need of rescue, and rushing affected cats and kittens to emergency medical care.

Among those we saved was a family of six kittens, all of whom are receiving critical treatment, including for eye infections.

With Hurricane Isaias set to make landfall on the Gulf Coast as early as late Friday, Alley Cat Allies is connecting with allies in projected impact areas to prepare to protect cats.

Our Rapid Response Team stands ready to assist with medical care, emergency supplies and boarding, and more. We urge everyone in areas with evacuation orders to PLEASE EVACUATE WITH YOUR INDOOR CATS and other pets.

Alley Cat Allies has important information on how to evacuate safely with cats and prepare community cat colonies for disasters at alleycat.org/DisasterTips. Please share this information ahead of the storm.
