‼️BREAKING: Alley Cat Allies offers $15,000 REWARD seeking justice for a cat shot with a crossbow in Salem, Ohio‼️

Justice, a tabby cat who was loved by his caregivers and described as “very friendly,” was discovered with the bolt piercing through his lower body on Monday, June 1, 2026, at the 200 block of West 8th Street in Salem, Ohio. The injury suggested Justice had been shot at least 4 to 5 days earlier.

IMPORTANT: Alley Cat Allies and the Columbiana County Humane Society urge anyone with information to call the Columbiana Chief Humane Officer at 234-575-1400.

Though he was rushed to medical care, Justice had already lost mobility in his back legs, and veterinarians determined that his injuries were too severe. He had to be humanely euthanized.

We hope this reward brings in critical information leading to an arrest. Then, we are going to demand a trial and the maximum penalty under the law for this horrific act of cruelty. Alley Cat Allies also plans to cover the costs of a necropsy and other procedures to uncover more information.

In Justice's memory, we are fighting for the justice he deserves. Learn more: https://www.alleycat.org/alley-cat-allies-offers-15000-reward-for-information-on-a-cat-fatally-shot-with-a-crossbow-bolt-in-salem-ohio/

‼️UPDATE: 7 cats rescued from a sealed bin in San Antonio were saved and adopted. But justice still must be served‼️

Alley Cat Allies is offering a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for sealing cats into two plastic bins to die in February of 2026.

Anyone with information is urged to call 311 and ask to speak with a San Antonio Animal Care Services (ACS) investigator. See our graphic for more information and learn more here: https://www.alleycat.org/alley-cat-allies-offers-10000-reward-for-information-on-cats-sealed-in-bins-and-abandoned-in-san-antonio/

The seven cats saved were cut out of one of the bins just in time to be rushed to lifesaving medical care. Now, all have been adopted into homes where they can heal. Munchkin was the last to find a family just two weeks ago.

However, every cat in the second bin passed away before they could be rescued. This horrific act of cruelty cannot go unpunished. We are fighting in their memory and seeking the maximum sentence for all involved.

As an ACS spokesperson said: “Given the generous Alley Cat Allies reward in connection with this case, we are hopeful the reward may encourage anyone with information to come forward and assist investigators."

Community cats really do live everywhere we do, and everywhere...including on prison grounds. Just ask Linda here!

Alley Cat Allies' Prison Cats Program has cared for community cats living near prisons for decades. Every cat is fed regularly and has been spayed or neutered through targeted TNR.

Cats like Linda can live out their lives in the outdoor spaces they know and love. The prison is home to these cats, and they want no other!

This kind of animal cruelty cannot go unpunished‼️

This week, Lauren Carter of Chester, Pennsylvania, was arrested and charged with two counts of misdemeanor cruelty to animals after video footage appeared to show her pouring bleach onto food left out for cats. According to authorities, she admitted to putting bleach on cat food on two occasions.

At least one cat, Jumper, was nearby and sniffed the food. Thankfully, investigators say they found no evidence that a cat ingested the bleach. Contact with bleach can cause chemical burns in a cat's throat and mouth and risks life-threatening damage.

Alley Cat Allies will offer our support to the prosecution of this case and call for the maximum sentence. For a misdemeanor in the second degree, this includes prison time and a high fine.

The strongest possible penalty in this case will set a critical standard against animal cruelty throughout Pennsylvania. If you see or suspect an act of animal cruelty, learn how to take action at alleycat.org/ReportingCruelty

Community cats are called such to acknowledge their thousands of years of history as members of our communities, who thrive in their outdoor homes among us.

These cats are bonded to their outdoor homes and to their feline families, and they are generally not adoptable. That's why Trap-Neuter-Return ( ) is so important.

TNR is humane, evidence-based policy that embraces community cats' nature, their biology, and their inherent value as beings deserving of respect and protection. It focuses on helping these cats continue to live out their lives in familiar surroundings while vaccinated and free of the stresses of mating and pregnancy.

When Hazel first came into our care, she had been pregnant at least once and was wary of everyone around her. Today, she enthusiastically greets all who enter the veterinary clinic where she lives (and, of course, has been spayed!). We call her the Office Manager!

Pictured is Hazel on "duty." But though she has an important role at the clinic, we know she'd be much happier "retiring" in a loving home of her own.

June is Adopt A Cat Month, so there's no better time to consider adding a new member to your family! Learn how to Hazel at ✨ alleycat.org/Adopt ✨

Something to know about Hazel: she wants to be near you at all times. She’ll follow you around, keep an eye on everything, and make sure she’s part of the action. She has a curious spirit and brings a fun and engaging presence to any room!
