Today, associates from TJ Maxx visited a variety of Save the Children programs spanning our Grade Level Proficiency, Parents As Teachers, and Community Impact work.

TJ Maxx has been a partner of Save the Children for decades, starting in 1984. For over 40 years of partnership, together TJ Maxx and Save the Children have served as a powerful force for children— achieving increased visibility, supporting communities, and uniting associates around engagement opportunities in corporate philanthropy.

We are forever thankful for our partnership with them!

Celebrating the 2026 OUTSTANDING coordinators in Grade Level Proficiency and Kindergarten Readiness… Jonathan Coffey and Tammy Jacobs!

Over the past 20 years with Save the Children, Jonathan Coffey has demonstrated exceptional dedication to fostering literacy and a lifelong love of reading in hundreds of children.

Through his innovative programming, compassionate approach, and unwavering commitment to student success, he has helped countless students improve their reading abilities while building confidence that extends beyond the classroom.

Educators consistently recognize the meaningful impact of Jonathan’s work, noting both the measurable growth in student achievement and the enthusiasm for learning he inspires.

His passion for education and his ability to connect with students have made him an invaluable resource and a champion for literacy in his community.

Tammy Jacobs has been named Kentucky’s Outstanding Early Childhood Coordinator, a distinguished honor that reflects her unwavering dedication to children, families, and the field of early childhood education.

Tammy was nominated for this recognition by Sarah Livesay, who highlighted Tammy’s exceptional commitment, professionalism, and her consistent willingness to go above and beyond in service to her community. Her efforts have made a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of children and families throughout Perry County.

We invite you to join us in congratulating Tammy and Jonathan on this well-deserved honor. Their leadership continues to inspire those around them, and we are proud to have them represent Save the Children and the state of Kentucky with such distinction.

A story in three parts.

Today was a fun filled day for our Save the Children staff! We joined Good360 to create Built to Play kits that will be distributed across Kentucky and West Virginia. Thank you to our wonderful partners and donors for making this possible. Despite experiencing car issues, we made the best of it! Team building, am I right? 🤪

Kindergarten and Preschool Registration is underway! Make sure you’re prepared.

To register your child for preschool, first determine your child's eligibility (usually age 3 or 4), then choose between public school programs, Head Start, or private centers. Gather required documents like birth certificates and immunizations, and complete the application through your local school district or center.

To register your child for kindergarten in Kentucky, they must turn 5 years old on or before August 1 of the enrollment year. The process involves completing your local school district’s online enrollment application, followed by submitting required health forms and official documents in person.
