Our Keith Everitt did another great interview with a local news station.

Thursday morning, the Red Lick Volunteer Fire Department put out a house fire after it reignited from a smaller fire that was put out earlier.

There are a lot of questions about what is legal and what is illegal to burn, and when it is legal and illegal to burn outdoors. I know because I have these questions too. Here is what I found. These state rules were created to protect our homes, neighbors, and

If you have a small fire in your house and put it out, please call 911 to have the fire department check it out. We have state of the art thermal imaging cameras that can see heat. We use those to find hot spots that could reignite to burn down your house.

Sadly that happened this morning. A family put out a small fire that reignited and burned their house. If they called us out for the little fire, their house would not be destroyed.

πŸš’πŸ”₯ TRAINING DAY 2026 β€” WHAT A DAY! πŸ”₯πŸš’

Today was a BIG day for Red Lick Volunteer Fire Department!

We had the incredible opportunity to host a large-scale training day with multiple fire departments, vendors, and members of our fire service community coming together to train, learn, share knowledge, and strengthen the skills that help us serve our communities.

We want to give a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who came out and helped make today such a success. Your time, knowledge, equipment, support, and willingness to share what you know made this a truly special day for Red Lick VFD.

A very special thank-you to Chief Brooks with Richmond Fire Department and the Waco Fire Department for being a part of today's training and for helping bring departments together for a day focused on learning, teamwork, and brotherhood. We truly appreciate you both being there and helping make this day possible!

And another huge THANK YOU to the vendors and organizations who joined us:

πŸ”₯ Endeavor Fire Protection
πŸ”₯ Fire Pro
πŸ”₯ Red River Rescue
πŸ”₯ HEN NOZZLE
πŸ”₯ Grace Now Food Pantry

And of course, thank you to ALL of the fire departments, firefighters, instructors, volunteers, and supporters who showed up and made today what it was.

Days like today are about more than just training. They're about building relationships, learning from one another, sharing experience, and making sure we're better prepared when our communities need us most.
We couldn't be more proud of how today came together. What a turnout, what a learning experience, and what an incredible day for the fire service community. πŸš’β€οΈ

β€’ You may hear the standard EAS tones.
β€’ The message may be in English, Spanish, or both.
β€’ Cell phones will not receive this test.
β€’ No action is needed.

These tests help ensure emergency alerts work when they matter most.

UPDATE: 9/17 (8:50AM) β€” All systems have been restored and callers should no longer experience the call forwarding. Thank you to our team for their commitment to ensuring we provide great emergency communications for our citizens and first responders.

🚨 911 SERVICE UPDATE 🚨

Madison County is experiencing a temporary outage affecting our 911 lines but this will NOT impact our ability to answer your call or dispatch emergency services.

What should callers expect?
If you need emergency assistance, continue to call 911 as you normally would. Your call will be automatically forwarded to our team of telecommunicators. Because calls are being rerouted through our backup systems, you may notice a difference in the first ring or hear a slightly different sound before the call connects.

Please stay on the line and allow the call to connect. Once connected, our telecommunicators will answer your call and handle it as they normally would.

Most importantly, emergency response service remains unchanged. The outage does not change how calls are handled, how emergency information is processed, or how our first responders are dispatched.

Our citizens will continue to receive the same high level of emergency communications and response service they depend on.

This is exactly why we have technology, redundancy and backup systems in place. When an unexpected issue occurs, these systems help ensure our emergency communications remain operational and our telecommunicators can continue serving our community.

πŸ“ž If you have an emergency, call 911 as you normally would.

The way your call connects may sound differentβ€”but the service you receive and the response you need remain unchanged.

We will continue getting the right responder, to the right location, every time.
