💡 Shared challenges. Shared solutions. Stronger partnerships.

During COVID, communities came together in ways we had never seen before, and those partnerships are still making an impact today.

Out-of-school time programs and community organizations stepped up alongside schools to fill critical gaps—supporting students, families, and entire communities when it mattered most. Today, those relationships are evolving into long-term collaboration focused on student success and well-being.

Because when challenges are shared… the solutions must be too.

⚾️ Happy Opening Day, Cincinnati Reds ! ❤️

We’re throwing it back to a couple of weeks ago when the KYOSA booth had some special visitors from the Cincinnati Reds—Rosie Red and Mr. Redlegs!

Just like baseball, out-of-school time programs are all about teamwork, growth, and showing up every day ready to give it your best. Across Kentucky, these programs create opportunities for young people to develop their academic strengths, build skills, find their passions, and be part of something bigger.

As the baseball season kicks off today, we’re cheering on a year full of connection, learning, and a few home runs along the way. Let’s play ball, Kentucky! ⚾️💙

For those of us in out-of-school time, this is more than research—it’s a reminder that our work is grounded in evidence, impact, and possibility.

👋 Hello from Washington, DC!

This week, KYOSA Director Kathleen Kelly, Partners for Change President & CEO Stacie Strotman, and KYOSA Vice Chair and Executive Director Laura Lewter were on Capitol Hill with Afterschool Alliance as part of the Afterschool for All Challenge.

Alongside afterschool champions from across the country—and Out-of-School Time professionals from across the Commonwealth attending the National AfterSchool Association Convention—the group met with Kentucky’s members of Congress and their staff to advocate for the afterschool and summer learning programs that Kentucky kids and families depend on every day.

We’re proud to help elevate the voices of Kentucky’s OST community and stand with partners nationwide to ensure young people have access to safe, enriching opportunities beyond the school day. 💙💛

Please join us in welcoming Kathleen Kelly to the Kentucky Out-of-School Alliance & Partners for Change team as the new KYOSA Director! 🎉

In this role, Kathleen will lead efforts to strengthen and grow Kentucky’s out-of-school time ecosystem, cultivating statewide partnerships with schools, childcare providers, community organizations, policymakers, funders, and coalitions. The bright ideas in your brain deserve to see the light of day! 💡🧠

The Dollar Challenge is where K-12 students across the country pitch ideas that improve their very own schools, homes, or communities.

Whether it’s a product, invention, or social solution, this is the place where bold ideas win BIG.

Kids and teens just need to record a 30-90 second pitch video, and submit by February 27, 2026. (Individuals or teams of up to three can enter.)

Finalists earn prizes from the $1 million prize pool, and an invitation to an epic celebration in June of 2026, happening in Flint, Michigan.
