Debates about work reporting often focus on stereotypes, but the data tells a different story. In reality, the requirements will target mostly women, middle-aged with a high school degree or less, who can't fully work because they're caring for a loved one.

Other states are rethinking their data center subsidies. Kentucky should too.

The legislature’s new budget makes deep cuts to the departments that serve kids, foster families, seniors and more. Because of this, the executive branch will have to reduce critical services by:

-Reducing the number of senior meals
-Cutting foster care rates and programs for foster children
-Reducing the number of social workers through attrition or layoffs
-Reducing the Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program, or KTAP, which provides cash assistance to extremely low-income families (after already reducing it last year)
-Cutting Medicaid provider rates, threatening services for the more than a million Kentuckians who rely on Medicaid

"The bombing of Pearl Harbor and the horrors of N**i Germany shook the country. The baby boomers were the product of a nation coming together. We can do that again in their final years. In the process, we would create good employment for workers in the care and construction industries. And as those boomers pass away, the large supply of housing they called home — including dwellings built under this initiative — become a legacy that future residents can afford.

"This story began with the World War II vets we called the Greatest Generation. The best way to remember them is for the next wave of Kentuckians to have a chance at greatness too."

Kentucky's population is getting older and we're not prepared for the challenges that are coming. But there's time to change that.

Highland Elementary School, built in 1959, is closing because Lincoln County Schools can’t afford repairs.

This comes as the district faces a decline in SEEK payments next school year. The district will see a $823,000 drop from 2026 to 2027. That's a $1.4 million decline once adjusted for inflation.
