The Sophia Way The Sophia Way is a place of hope and change for women. The Sophia Way envisions a community where all women have a place to call home.

The organization supports women on their journey from homelessness to safe and stable living. Our shelters give them a warm, safe space to take a shower, rest, and sleep, and nourishing food. Following the guiding principles of trauma-informed care, case managers partner with the women to support their overall wellbeing – physical, mental, and financial. Since 2008, The Sophia Way has served and supported more than 5,000 women and helped hundreds find their homes.

The Sophia Way is participating in Ignite Kirkland - a community-powered giving campaign hosted by the Kirkland Community Foundation - to raise funds to provide essential shelter supplies for 40 women at Helen's Place, our emergency shelter in Kirkland. Sheets, blankets, towels, and hygiene essentials aren't just supplies - they give dignity, support healing, and help women take the next step in their journey to stability.

Once again this June, we are proud to participate in the Black Hair Care Drive!

This community initiative helps provide Black youth, women, and families experiencing homelessness with culturally relevant hair care products that are often difficult to access or afford. Together with YouthCare, Mary's Place, and Friends of Youth, we're working to ensure that youth, women, and families feel seen, valued, and cared for.

Donations purchased through the wishlist will be shipped directly to YouthCare, where they will be organized and distributed among all four participating organizations.

💜 What a wonderful Summer Community Brunch!

The day was filled with laughter, conversation, pampering, and the simple joy of being together. Women enjoyed shopping for seasonal clothing and accessories, sharing a meal, and connecting with one another in a welcoming and supportive environment.

We are hearing so much amazing feedback from our team thanks to the hard work of volunteers from Skanska USA!

📦 Case Managers are loving the reorganized box room, where they can now get boxes out to pack needed items
🪥 Shelter staff are already having an easier time finding what they need in the feminine hygiene room
🚪 One of the volunteers who stocks the shelter closets mentioned that it's easier to find what she needs as well

Our Summer Community Brunch is next Sunday and we can't wait!

Photos from last year show just how special this day is for the women we serve - whether they're currently in our shelters or women we've walked alongside in the past. They enjoy a morning of pampering, haircuts, makeup, and a "shopping" experience stocked with seasonal clothing and items just for them.

Our staff and volunteers are currently busy sorting and packing to make it wonderful.

Preparations for our Summer Community Brunch are underway and volunteers from GitHub helped out recently, packing items that clients will choose from during their shopping experience. They also took on several other projects while they were at the Donation Center, including organizing clothing and household items that clients choose from as they move into housing. BINGO! And what an exciting evening!.

150+ adults and kids packed the room for our fundraising bingo night and the energy was absolutely electric.

Prizes. Food. Drinks. And the incredible Jason Koenig calling numbers in his iconic BINGO shirt, reminding everyone what this night was really about: women who need a safe place to sleep and shelter.

Local businesses donated amazing prizes and supporters gave generously. That's the power of this community.
