POSSESS YOUR VESSEL (Your Body Is Not Your Master!!)
Your body is not meant to control you. Giving into your sexual urges, letting one thing lead to another, avoiding the physical disciplines you need to be healthy, and letting your body make your decisions is not God's will for your life.
In 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4, Paul says, "For this is the will of God—your sanctification: for you to abstain from sexual immorality; for each of you to know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor..."
Your body is a vessel, intended to bring God honor by being set apart for His glory. Every moment, you have two choices-
1) Will you let your body possess your soul, doing what feels good, gratifies the flesh, and avoids physical discipline? Or,
2) Will you possess your vessel- take responsibility for your body, and subject it to the Lordship of Jesus Christ?
Notice how Paul connects his PHYSICAL DISCIPLINE with his SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINE in 1 Corinthians 9:27-
"I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified."
Whether you like it or not, you are an integrated being, created in the image of God. Your heart, mind and soul will all be affected by how you love God with your body, and "possess your vessel."
If you are a man, and this resonates with you...
If you are shaking your head in agreement...
If you feel conviction in an area of your physical discipline...
