What an incredible morning!

Thank you to Chief Dave Tait and the men and women of Bellevue (WA) Fire Department who joined us for the Bellevue Fire Foundation’s 5th Annual Breakfast with the Chief.

Chief Dave Tait and our emcee, Mark Wright, gave guests an inside look at the work of Bellevue’s firefighters and paramedics, including a compelling live demonstration of how drone technology could enhance emergency response and help keep both our community and first responders safer.

One of the highlights of the morning was the opportunity for guests to connect directly with Bellevue firefighters—from the firefighter co-hosts seated at every table to the crews sharing their expertise through exhibits before the program.

We’ve heard from so many guests who said this was our best Breakfast with the Chief yet. That wouldn’t have been possible without our generous sponsors, table hosts, volunteers, Bellevue Fire personnel, and everyone who joined us in support of the men and women who protect our community every day.

We remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of the firefighters, law enforcement officers, first responders, and countless others who answered the call.

We will never forget those who gave their lives in service to others, nor the families and communities forever changed by that day.

🚒 Our event may be cancelled, but you can still make a difference!

Tonight we had planned to raffle off one of our favorite experiences—Red Hot Ride to School! Two lucky winners (either two children or one child and one accompanying adult) will arrive at school aboard a Bellevue Fire Department fire engine, creating memories they'll never forget.

While we won't be holding the drawing tonight, you can still enter by making a $25 (or more) donation to the Bellevue Fire Foundation by August 12.

🔥 Due to today's wildfire smoke, tonight's First Responders Night and Movies in the Park at Bellevue Downtown Park has been cancelled.

We were looking forward to sharing our Wildfire Safety with Andy Raccoon video with families this evening. Given the current conditions, the message is more important than ever.

You'll also recognize a very special member of the cast—our Bellevue Fire Foundation Type 6 Wildfire Brush Truck, which is currently deployed through Washington's mutual aid system, supporting firefighters battling the wildfires in the Spokane area.

We're proud of Bellevue's firefighters and grateful to all first responders working to protect communities across Washington while continuing to keep Bellevue safe.

Even though tonight's event has been cancelled, we encourage everyone to take a few moments to review wildfire safety with your family and to keep all of our firefighters in your thoughts as they continue this important work.

Our Type 6 Wildland Brush Truck is on the front lines.

As wildfires continue to impact Eastern Washington, Bellevue Fire Department's Type 6 Wildland Brush Truck has deployed to the Spokane area to assist with firefighting efforts.

This deployment is a reminder that the specialized equipment funded by our community doesn't just protect Bellevue—it can also be called upon to help communities across Washington when they're needed most.

We are deeply grateful to Amazon, the Bruce McCaw Foundation, and the many generous donors whose support helped make this truck possible. Your investment is making a difference where it matters most.
