Washington Solar Energy Industries Association

Washington Solar Energy Industries Association WASEIA is a professional trade association for the Washington solar industry. Solar supports 3,700 family-wage jobs in Washington, and counting.

Washington Solar Energy Industries Association (WASEIA) is a professional trade association established in October 2013 as Solar Installers of Washington to be a unified voice for the common business interests of its members, particularly related to public policy, legislation, and governmental relations. WASEIA educates legislators and regulators while promoting public understanding about the impa

cts of policies related to solar energy inside the State of Washington. WASEIA also represents the interests of Washington-based solar installers in conversations with manufacturers, distributors, and other organizations that routinely interact with its members. WASEIA intends to be a virtual organization relying upon the active involvement of its members in conference calls, virtual meetings and timely electronic communication.

On May 15, the Washington Solar Energy Industries Association (WASEIA) hosted its inaugural Policy Retreat to better support the evolving needs of our state's solar and storage industry.

To tackle growing regulatory, utility, and legislative complexities, WASEIA is introducing a new, cross-functional Policy Lane Structure:

- Policy & Legislative: State-level advocacy and tracking legislation.
- Utilities & Regulatory: Interconnection modernization and utility engagement.
- Energy Code: Building codes and technical standards.
- Communications & Outreach: Member communication and public advocacy.

WASEIA’s impact relies on member expertise. If you are in the Washington clean energy space, consider joining a policy lane or working group to help shape our industry's future in Washington.

The countdown has officially begun. We are exactly one week away from the WASEIA Annual Meeting and the 5th Annual Dignified Celebration of Solar (DCS).

Following the conclusion of the 2026 legislative session, we have gathered vital insights into the defense of net metering and the continued evolution of the Value of Solar and Storage (VOSS) study. Next week, we will gather to celebrate our hard-won victories, discuss lessons learned from SB 6008 and HB 2296, and prepare for the significant industry changes on the horizon.

We look forward to celebrating the resilience and style of the Washington solar community alongside our incredible sponsors and members!

Two-Week Notice: Our 5th Annual Dignified Celebration of Solar

We are officially two weeks away from our premier annual event in Tacoma. The 2026 legislative session has highlighted the resilience of the Washington solar community, and we are ready to gather for our annual meeting and celebration.

This session, our advocacy efforts focused on protecting the foundations of our industry. We look forward to discussing our steadfast defense of net metering and the progress of the Value of Solar and Storage (VOSS) study. We will also review the outcomes of our work on the Meter Collar Adapter Bill (HB 2296) and the lessons learned from the Statewide Battery Storage Incentive (SB 6008).

Event Schedule for Thursday, March 26, 2026:

Annual Member Meeting (3:00 PM to 5:00 PM): Get essential updates on association business, participate in board elections, and join a deep dive into the 2026 legislative wrap-up.

Registration and Networking (4:30 PM to 6:00 PM): Connect with fellow members and our generous sponsors.

Dignified Celebration and Party (5:00 PM to 8:00 PM): Join us for an evening of food, drinks, and community building as we celebrate the growth of the solar industry.

Location: The Press Room 1920 Pacific Ave Tacoma, WA 98402

Thank you to our members and sponsors who make it possible for us to remain the unified voice for solar installers in Washington. We look forward to seeing you there to celebrate our shared success.

HB 2296 is moving forward, and it’s a huge win for affordability. By supporting Meter Socket Adapters (MSAs), this bill helps homeowners plug solar and batteries directly into their meters—saving hours of labor and cutting out pricey electrical panel upgrades.

At WASEIA, we’re excited about this progress, though we’re keeping a close eye on recent amendments to ensure utility approval processes stay fair and fast. This is a great step in the right direction for our state’s clean energy future!
