What *actually* helps young people prepare for the future?

It takes more than technical training. It takes the right support, educators, and opportunities to help youth build confidence in what they’re capable of.

Through Jóvenes con Entrega, made possible with support from FedEx Latin America and Caribbean, IYF brought together 30 technical secondary school teachers in Medellín, Colombia for hands-on logistics training using the same curriculum they will bring to their students.

Developed alongside the Medellín Secretary of Education, this workshop helps connect education and employment in a sector with growing demand for youth talent.

In our upcoming webinar, we’ll break down new findings from a recent peer-reviewed study on youth life skills programming, based on outcomes from young people participating in IYF-supported programs.

When industry and education sit at the same table, real change gets designed.

As part of Jóvenes con Entrega, we brought together logistics companies, public institutions, and training providers for a Skills Gap Workshop in Medellín, Colombia.

From the Colombian Air Force to Yamaha Colombia, Zona Logística, and Colanta, partners worked alongside educators to map what the logistics sector actually needs and how training can better prepare young people to meet that demand.

That’s how Jóvenes con Entrega works. It is co-created with industry, institutions, and young people themselves.

The result? Clear next steps. Updated curricula, stronger teacher development, and global best practices adapted to local realities.

What does it take to create real opportunity for young people in a rapidly changing economy?

Last month, we welcomed partners and supporters to Mexico City for IYF’s 35th Anniversary Learning Journey — two days of conversations, site visits, and shared learning focused on the future of workforce development.

From logistics and cybersecurity training at CONALEP México-Canadá to socioemotional learning and technical skills development through JuventudES, participants saw how young people are building pathways into employment with the support of stronger, more connected systems.

The experience brought together leaders from across philanthropy, business, education, and civil society to explore how we can better align training, technology, and opportunity for the next generation.

“Entry-level” doesn’t always truly mean entry.

There is a growing disconnect in how these roles are defined. Many still require prior experience that early-career candidates simply have not had the opportunity to build.

The result is a barrier that is not always visible but is widely felt.

At IYF, we work to address this by creating structured pathways to real-world experience. This helps young people build applied skills, confidence, and exposure before they enter the job market.
