For Luana, Believe In Tomorrow eased the financial burden of staying close during her daughter's surgery at the Johns Hopkins Children's Center. It also gave her youngest daughter space to play, opportunities to make happy memories, and comfort during an uncertain time.

From running into the waves to running our Port to Fort 6K! 🌊💙

Meet Laurel — a beach lover, taco enthusiast, and seven-year-old with a huge heart.

Just two weeks before her third birthday, Laurel was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. When her first month of treatment didn't bring remission, she needed more aggressive chemotherapy. Over the next six months, she spent more than 120 nights in the hospital. Through pain, complications, and isolation, her courageous, goofy spirit kept shining.

In December 2024, after more than two years of treatment, Laurel rang the bell. Today, she's in remission and full of energy!

For her family, a Believe In Tomorrow beach respite offered time to catch their breath, reconnect, and simply enjoy being together — boogie boarding, hunting for seashells, and making memories beyond cancer.

On October 24, Laurel and her family will join us at the 30th Annual Port to Fort 6K to help more families experience respite moments like theirs.
