“This book is redefining happiness. It challenges the misconceptions we’ve carried about what happiness is supposed to look like and, in many ways, gives happiness less weight—which ultimately gives the person more power.

It stretches the reader’s understanding of alignment and challenges us to consider how many of us are running after something we may not even fully understand. David’s exploration of alignment—what it means, what it requires, and what happens when our lives begin to match our truth—is where this book truly shines.

Happiness in Hard Seasons is more than a book. It feels like a declaration.”

— Cynthia Reneé

And this is exactly why I cannot wait to share this book with you. 💛

✨ What Are You Afraid Of?

Fear has a way of convincing us that we need to become smaller.

So we dim our light.
We silence our voice.
We apologize for our gifts.
We settle for spaces where we don't have to shine because shining might make someone else uncomfortable.

But here's the truth...

The right people will never ask you to become less so they can feel like more.

💡 You were never created to shrink yourself to fit into rooms that were too small for your purpose.

And when it comes to relationships, friendships, or partnerships, ask yourself this:

Can they carry the weight of who you are?

Not just your potential.
Not just your success.
Not just the parts of you that are easy to celebrate.

Can they carry your purpose?
Your calling?
Your growth?
Your light?

Because who you are comes with weight. And the people assigned to your life should have the capacity to celebrate it—not resent it.

✨ Stop apologizing for taking up the space God created for you to occupy.

You were never meant to dim your light.

Do you really know yourself?
I think many of us would immediately say yes. But do we really?
We spend so much of our lives surrounded by noise—work, family, relationships, responsibilities, expectations, social media—that we rarely take the time to simply sit with ourselves.
And sometimes, it isn't until the noise gets quiet that we begin to discover who we actually are.
What do I need?
What brings me peace?
What drains me?
What am I willing to accept?
What am I no longer willing to negotiate?
That kind of self-awareness matters because you cannot establish meaningful boundaries if you don't first know the person those boundaries are supposed to protect.
Getting to know yourself requires intentional time with yourself. It requires sitting in the quiet long enough to hear your own voice—not everyone else's expectations of you.
And the more you learn yourself, the clearer your boundaries become.
This is part of the conversation at the heart of my new book, Happiness in Hard Seasons. What does true happiness look like? How do we create a life that honors who we are—even when life itself is challenging?
I'd love for you to join me as we celebrate its release. ❤️

🛑 Your non-negotiables aren't about pushing people away—they're about protecting the person you're becoming.

One of the greatest acts of self-care isn't saying "yes" to everyone. It's taking the time to truly know yourself.

When you understand your values, your peace, and what you need to thrive, you begin to establish healthy non-negotiables. Those boundaries aren't selfish—they're necessary. They become the standard by which you evaluate every relationship, opportunity, and commitment.

Not every relationship is meant to continue into every season of your life. Some people will honor your boundaries, and others will resist them. That's okay. Your responsibility isn't to make everyone comfortable. It's to live authentically and protect the life you're building.

In Happiness in Hard Seasons, I explore how defining your non-negotiables isn't about building walls—it's about creating a life where peace, purpose, and healthy relationships can flourish.

💭 What's one non-negotiable you've established that has brought more peace into your life?

🌿 The Quiet Barriers to Happiness

Not every barrier to happiness announces itself. Some are so deeply woven into our lives that we mistake them for truth.

Many of us weren't taught to be happy—we were taught to achieve.

🎓 Get the education.
💼 Build the career.
💰 Make the money.
👨‍👩‍👧 Take care of everyone else.
🏃 Keep pushing.

But somewhere along the way, very few of us were taught how to cultivate joy, peace, or fulfillment.

We learned how to survive. We learned how to perform. We learned how to meet expectations.

But happiness?

For many of us, that conversation never happened.

One of the quietest barriers to happiness is believing that success and happiness are the same thing. They're not.

True happiness begins when you stop living the life you were programmed to live and start living the life that aligns with your values, your purpose, and your authentic self.

✨ Sometimes the greatest act of courage isn't accomplishing more—it's giving yourself permission to finally be happy.
