The Texas Pharmacy Association’s member services manager, Brandon Faulds, is manning our exhibit booth at the Pharmacy Technician Educators Council - PTEC's 2026 Conference in San Antonio, which began yesterday and continues through Saturday. Faulds, a longtime technician himself, is promoting not only technician membership in TPA but also the ways we’re working to elevate the profession and advance the practice of technicians in Texas, including opportunities to cross-train as community health workers. He even bumped into TPA Treasurer Casey Nicholas of Walgreens at the event!

During a recent interview, CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz highlighted as part of the Trump administration's plan to streamline healthcare for rural Americans. “If we can get pharmacists to function at the height of their licensure, allow them to do testing, for example, for strep throat, then [a patient] can go to the local three miles away, get the strep test, get the antibiotics at the pharmacy under a doctor's supervision, and go back home again,” he said. “The president has been crystal clear that he wants rural America protected.”
