Who are CRNAs?

The anesthesia experts preparing before the patient enters the room, watching every detail during care, and helping guide patients safely into recovery.

Prepared. Focused. Essential.

That's a CRNA.

🌟 Member Monday Spotlight: Paola Andrea Arias, SRNA 🌟

Her mantra: 1% Better Everyday!

Paola Andrea is an SRNA at Texas Wesleyan University with home sites at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen and Brownsville. She’s completed specialty rotations at Parkland Hospital and Cook Children’s in Fort Worth.

“What I find most rewarding about being a CRNA is the trust that patients and their families place in us during one of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. I don’t take that lightly. I honor that trust by being fully present and by consistently providing safe, compassionate and attentive care throughout their surgery.”

Beyond school, Paola Andrea is passionate about real estate, loves trying new restaurants as a Google local guide, and enjoys painting, gardening, and pickleball. Her fur baby Belle has been her constant study companion through every milestone.

Thank you, Paola Andrea, for your dedication and heart. 💙

Today and every day, we pause to remember the heroes who gave their lives in service to our nation, and the families and teammates who carry their legacy forward.

We’re honored this Memorial Day to share the reflections of MAJ Nicole Ioset, US Army, CRNA, whose life of service is deeply rooted in a military-family legacy and a calling to care for those who step into harm’s way for the cause of freedom for all.

“As both a military service member and a CRNA, and as someone shaped by a family of lifelong service members, this day carries a weight that is difficult to put into words. I am reminded that serving in the military means being part of something far greater than myself.” – MAJ Nicole Ioset, US Army, CRNA

As both a soldier and a CRNA, MAJ Ioset serves alongside those she respects while caring for them in their most vulnerable moments, a privilege she will never take lightly.

Today, we join her in honoring those who served, supporting those who still do, and remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We remember. We honor. We will not forget.

The American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA) offers wellness toolkits, mindfulness and stress‑management resources, and guidance on navigating burnout and substance use concerns, all tailored to anesthesia professionals.

You don’t have to figure it out alone. Explore AANA’s “Here for You” wellness resources and share a link with someone who might need it today: https://bit.ly/3PO3mcn. 🩺
