It's Practice Week!

Practice makes better! The first time you try our workouts, they may seem very challenging, but they can become easier over time with some practice. That's why Power for Parkinson's is dedicating the last week of every month to practicing our favorite workouts from the previous weeks. Here are our favorite classes from June. We hope you will give them a try, and if you are trying them for a second time, let us know in the comments if they have become easier or more fun!

Go to bit.ly/PracticePFP to try out the classes! šŸ”—

In 2013, Dr. Nina Mosier and Susan Stahl founded Power for Parkinson’s in honor of their fathers, two kind and compassionate men living with Parkinson’s.

With Father’s Day just a few days away, we are reminded of Nina and Susan’s work to create something that would help people like their fathers live better lives with Parkinson’s, and we are inspired to see so many other organizations and businesses with the same intention. With this in mind, we created this list of thoughtful gifts you could give your dad with Parkinson’s this Father’s Day.

Last month’s World Parkinson Congress was a wonderful opportunity to connect with the Hispanic Parkinson’s community and strengthen ties that will allow us to continue providing resources for this beautiful community.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello, shared with us, and participated in the special class in Spanish with Lola. It is an honor to be part of this community and to keep moving forward together.

Join us Saturday, July 11th for the BEST dance party of the year!

We’ll kick things off at 3 p.m. with a Texas two step class geared toward people with Parkinson’s taught by Wyatt from Hill Country Two-Step. Then, from 4-6 p.m. Croy & the Boys will perform live while we show off the dance moves we learned!

Caregivers, family, and friends are invited, but our volunteers and staff members are also happy to dance with you, so no dance partner is needed.

Go to powerforparkinsons.org/events/twostep to RSVP 🤠

Happy Pride Month! 🌈

We are happy to celebrate the incredible diversity of our community this month and every month! To all LGBTQIA+ community members around the globe, we support you and stand with you.

We would like to take some time this month to acknowledge and address the barriers that many members of the LGBTQIA+ community may encounter while seeking Parkinson’s health care and support. Stigma and discrimination against people in the LGBTQIA+ community is an ongoing issue and commonly hinders people in the community from seeking care for health issues, including Parkinson’s. This can delay Parkinson’s diagnosis and treatment and has contributed to the under-representation of LGBTQIA+ individuals in Parkinson’s research.

Throughout the month we will be highlighting helpful resources that empower people with PD in the LGBTQIA+ community, so stay tuned!
