Our sole mission is to improve and enhance the lives, careers, benefits, and conditions of our members and to use our voice and influence for the betterment of all civilian employees and commissioned officers of the Texas Department of Public Safety. As a voluntary labor organization of non-supervisory commissioned officers and retirees of the Texas Department of Public Safety, our members all hav
e experience about the department and crucial information on the issues that affect the lives of troopers and their families. Our core team of Board of Directors, Executive Staff, and Legislative Consultants have created a strong foundation of support, advocacy, and financial assistance to state troopers for over 25 years. Our membership, which consists of current or former first-line commissioned members of the Department of Public Safety, has fostered a stronger sense of unity and representation among state troopers. The board members are dedicated to seeking out troopers that require assistance, be it financial or legal, and providing a helping hand. The Texas State Troopers Association is looking out for Texas' troopers in the long term, dedicating our resources to them that need it most. Our organization is dedicated to helping the troopers, both active and retired, and whether they are members of the Texas State Troopers Association or not. The livelihood of each trooper is of utmost importance to us because they put their lives on the line every single day. Our organization makes it a point to place a spotlight on the stories of heroism of our troopers that sometimes never makes it to the front page. The most important task we carry out is in the Texas Legislature. So many bills that concern Texas State Troopers come across the desks of lawmakers. Our members are dedicated to the service of their communities, so we hold ourselves accountable to be dedicated to them. If a bill is proposed that would positively affect our state troopers, we will advocate for it. Bills that concern the financial security and physical security of our brave men and women are always going to be our top priority. On the other hand, if a bill comes up that would negatively impact the lives of the Texas State Troopers and their families, we will actively stand against it. Our organization works with independent attorneys and other organizations that can assist us with this undertaking and make sure we are going about our mission in the best possible way. Along those same lines, neutral bills that would not necessarily affect our troopers are still closely looked after, just in case they would change in status. The Texas State Troopers Association has deep ties to many charitable organizations in the area and frequently promote events that they hold and try to raise awareness about their causes.
