Texas Cultural Trust The leading voice for the arts in education, advocacy, and economic impact in Texas.

“Texas Women for the Arts members are changing lives.” — Mike Mazur, VP of Youth Theatres, North Texas Performing Arts.

And we couldn’t agree more. ✨ TWA is the Trust’s membership program and its mission is simple: to awaken and nurture the artist in every child. We do that by funding grants that expand access to arts and arts education across Texas.

We recently visited Fort Worth 🤠 ahead of our Annual Meeting coming to Cowtown this April. Stay tuned and visit the link in bio to join and learn more!

Thank you and for hosting us at the Bowie House! 🤎

📣 Calling all first year arts teachers in Texas! 📣 The 2025-2026 First Year Teacher Grant application is now live on our website, open July 1st through August 15th.

As a part of our Arts Access program, the First Year Teacher Grants are designed to support highly qualified arts teachers in providing quality arts education access to Title I and low arts access communities.

Grantees will be awarded a one-time grant in the amount of $1,500, intended to help alleviate costs associated with completing the first year as an arts teacher. This funding can be applied to professional development, classroom enrichment, school supplies, field trips, and additional resources to enhance the quality of arts education.

Congratulations to Tania Schwartz of El Paso for being named the 2025 Champion of the Arts!

Recognizing the power of the arts, Tania Schwartz has long served the El Paso community and the state of Texas through various leadership roles and nonprofit initiatives. Beyond her involvement with Texas Women for the Arts, she is on the Trust’s Board of Directors and served as the 2025 Co-Chair of the Texas Medal of Arts Awards. She supports the State of the Arts Council and the Texas Arts Education Task Force, is a current member of UT Austin’s College of Fine Arts Advisory Board, and has supported programming with El Paso ISD, the University of Texas at El Paso, the City of El Paso, and Kids Excel El Paso. Additionally, Tania has led major community efforts through the Junior League of El Paso, the YWCA El Paso del Norte Region, the Tom Lea Institute, the Power of the Purse, and was the Founding President of The Women’s Fund of El Paso.

Tania is not only a champion for creativity, but a changemaker ensuring artists have resources, young people have access, and communities continue to thrive through the arts. We are grateful for her commitment to not only the Trust but her El Paso community and beyond.
