POV: your camera roll after adopting a big baby 📸🤍

Cleo and King originally came into the city shelter as puppies with their mom. They were adopted together, but unfortunately that home wasn’t the right fit, and both found themselves back at the shelter. 😢

These 5-month-old Mastiff puppies are about 35 lbs and still growing. They’re living with dogs and cats in foster, love playing, already know “sit,” and are making good progress with their routines and house training.

💛 Cleo is the softer, sleepier sibling - sweet, gentle, cuddly, and a little cautious with new people.
🖤 King is the goofy, more energetic one - playful, curious, and always ready to romp.

They’re still big babies learning their size and manners, and they’re looking for adopters ready for the love, laughs, training, and growing that comes with a Mastiff puppy.

Available for adoption in the Austin, TX area. 📍

If you’ve ever wanted a dog with the weirdness of a cat, Tanya may be your girl. 🐱🎀

Tanya is about 2 years old, medium-sized, quietly affectionate, observant, quirky, and very much her own little creature. She likes to take things at her own pace, and she’ll make you wait a little for her trust, but once you’re in, it’s beautiful. 🥰

She’s dog and cat-friendly and would thrive with a playful, confident dog sibling who can help her feel safe, show her the ropes, and bring out her goofy side. 🐶

Tanya is still shy with people, so she’s looking for a patient home that understands some of the best relationships take time to build. ❤️

She is a sweet girl who doesn’t have a mean bone in her body but the transition will look like her hiding in her safe places and celebrating the wins when she howls in the morning or tap dances when you arrive home.😌

Tanya available for adoption through Rescue ATX Dogs. Inquire at rescueatxdogs.org/adoptionapp or via email [email protected] 📩

Keep Dory going. 🙏

When Dory arrived at the shelter, she was almost unrecognizable beneath painfully severe matting. Once her coat was removed, the damage underneath was devastating. Her left front leg had exposed bone, muscle, and tissue, and her back left leg had already been partially amputated, leaving her with only two fully functional legs. ❤️‍🩹

Her quality of life was uncertain enough that euthanasia was initially raised. But Dory kept showing us that she wanted to keep going and that her second chance was starting at 7 years old. With each day, she gained a little more confidence, a little more comfort, and a little more pep in her step.

We immediately moved forward with the care she needed because waiting wasn’t an option. After evaluations with a surgeon and orthopedic specialist, Dory underwent surgery to preserve as much function in her front leg as possible. Her care also includes wound care, medications, follow-up veterinary support, and a specialized brace for her back leg. 🏥

Her known medical costs are expected to exceed $4,500, and her next major step is a custom prosthetic for her front foot, estimated at $1,500, along with continued rehabilitation, fittings, adjustments, and follow-up care.
We urgently need help covering Dory’s medical care. 🚨

We named her Dory because she just keeps going. And now we want to give her every opportunity to keep doing exactly that. 🐟

Every donation helps Dory take another step forward.

Are you sleeping on black dogs? 👀🖤

Today is National Black Dog Day, a day meant to put a little extra attention on the black dogs who can spend longer waiting in shelters and rescues.

If it seems like a silly phenomenon, we agree! People say black dogs are less photogenic. If it seems made up, we wish it was but our longest stays being black dogs is our proof.

So today, we ask you to help Alfie and Clemy. 🙏

Both are large black dogs we pulled from Austin’s city shelter. Both have very different stories. And both need adopters asap.

They are safe and loved in their foster homes, but foster is not the finish line. They deserve people of their own.

If you’ve been thinking about adopting, don’t sleep on the black dogs. 🖤

Email [email protected] to meet Alfie or Clemy in their foster homes. 📩

You truly have to see Lil Luna in person to believe her. I cannot adequately explain her proportions through a screen. 🫢👀

Come meet her. I have a feeling I won’t be the only one obsessed.

Lil Luna has somehow become the reason I keep coming back to the shelter this week, even on days I absolutely did not plan to. 😅

The words that have crossed my mind when I’m with her: meatloaf, Chicago style hot dog, hootie tootie, lil looney tunes. Spend some time with her and you will immediately have some strange nicknames for her. 🌭

We are new friends yet her excitement when she realizes I’m there for her is the BEST, and everything this ridiculously shaped little dog does makes me laugh. 🥰

Whether she’s doing full-speed zoomies around the yard, showing off her very big personality, or splooting across the floor- she is an absolute hoot.

And I think that’s important to share, because the Luna you see in her kennel isn’t the full Luna. She has a lot to say in there. She lost her home and her person, and she LOVES getting out, getting attention, and getting to just be a dog again. 🙏

Once she’s out, she’s playful, affectionate, curious, and so much fun. Her volunteer friends have watched her climb into laps for pets and kisses, explore the yard, play, and happily settle in for a nap. ❤️

📍 Luna (24810) is available at Austin Animal Services.
Open 7 days a week from 11am-7pm.

➡️ Schedule a meet and greet with the humans / dogs in your home by emailing [email protected].
