Today marks the official start of the 2026–2027 Young Women’s Alliance term.

As we welcome our new Board of Directors and look ahead to the term before us, President Lillian Hartman shares a note on community, leadership, and the future of YWA.
…………..

“As we begin a new YWA term, I’m filled with excitement for what’s ahead and gratitude for the women who make this organization what it is.

In a world where genuine connection can feel harder to find, organizations like YWA are essential.
Many of us are navigating demanding careers, major life transitions, uncertainty, and challenges that can feel overwhelming to carry alone. More than ever, women need spaces where they can find support, encouragement, opportunity, and community.

Since 1993, YWA has been a place where women build friendships, grow as leaders, give back to the community, and find support through various stages of life and career. It’s an organization where confidence is built, opportunities are created, and lasting relationships begin.

This kind of community doesn’t happen by accident. It exists because of members, leaders, volunteers, alumni, and sponsors who continue to invest in one another and in the future of this organization. For more than 30 years, women have given their time, talents, energy, and hearts to YWA, ensuring this community continues to thrive for the women who come after them.

As we look ahead, we’re focused on strengthening what makes YWA special: investing in our members, building a sustainable leadership experience, ensuring the long-term health of the organization, and showing up more clearly in our community.

Most importantly, we remain committed to supporting, connecting, and empowering women.

I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside this talented leadership team and for every member who chooses to be part of this community.

The relationships formed, the leaders developed, and the impact made through YWA are reminders of what can happen when women invest in one another.

Thank you for being part of what comes next.”

Are you ready to make a meaningful impact on the next generation of leaders? Mentor applications for the LENS Mentorship Program are open through April 24.

The LENS Mentorship Program is an 7-month journey (June–December 2026) where YWA members are paired 1:1 with graduating seniors from Del Valle High School, recipients of the Future Women Leaders Scholarship. As a mentor, you’ll support your mentee through their first year of college, offering guidance, encouragement, and real-world perspective as they navigate this pivotal transition.

The moments captured here tell that story. These photos are from the close of our 2025 program: a celebration with a Workshop that reflects the connection, growth, and impact built between mentors and scholars over the year.

Now it’s your turn to be part of it.

Thank you to the incredible mentors who made last year so meaningful. If you’re ready to invest in the next cohort, apply in Mighty before April 24.

It’s the final sprint of our annual fundraising and your contribution can make a difference! We have now raised 97% of our $40,000 annual campaign goal. You can donate by March 31st through the link in our bio.

What is the campaign about? Every year YWA rallies our community to support educational access and leadership development for young women in Austin. Our Annual Giving Campaign drives this work, raising $40,000 in college scholarships for first-generation students at Del Valle High School. Your contribution matters and we’re incredibly thankful for our community ✨

Well-behaved women seldom make history. 💜
– Laurel Thatcher Ulrich

This Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating the women who challenge norms, break barriers, and create space for future generations to rise. From the history-makers we read about to the women showing up beside us each morning, your strength, courage, and commitment to community are shaping the world in powerful ways. 💪

Tag a woman who inspires you and let her know she’s making history. 💕✨
