Alert!

Siouxse is now Susie, lol a slightly easier to spell version of her same name.

This little girl is clearly living her best life!

Susie loves her Lamb Chop and stuffed donut, zooming around the apartment, playing lava from couch to couch, making new dog friends, and snuggling in bed while watching TV. She’s even helping her new dog friend Lexi feel more playful and energetic while she recovers from surgery.

And when her person isn’t feeling well, Susie is right there providing “a lot of emotional support.” Her adopter says it best: “She is one of the best things that has ever happened to me.”

When Spanky and his brother Peanut first came to Pug Rescue of Austin as Abbot and Costello, their foster family never imagined how much their lives would change. They thought they were taking on a simple foster assignment: help the boys get on a good diet, lose some weight, get Abbot’s tummy troubles under control, and help find them a good home.

But what they thought was a weight-loss journey for Peanut turned out to be something much more serious. Peanut had a massive 3.5-pound tumor that required an emergency splenectomy surgery. And Spanky’s diarrhea, which they had hoped would be an easy fix, turned out to be connected to an aggressive form of cancer.

Thankfully, Peanut made a full recovery. But when they received the news of Spanky’s poor prognosis, Todd and Pat made the decision to keep the brothers together for as long as possible. They thought they might have only days or weeks with Spanky, but thanks to their phenomenal love and care, that turned into an amazing seven months together. And when the time finally came to say goodbye to Spanky, they knew there was no way they could part with Peanut, too. So, before he left, they were able to promise Spanky that he didn’t have to worry about his brother anymore.

And with that, Costello, aka Peanut, has now been officially adopted! His family has known for quite a while just how special this boy is. He is one of the very, very few dogs who have ever gotten along with their Chiweenie, Copper.

Peanut is incredibly snuggly with both people and dogs, loves rubbing against legs like a cat, and has a very distinctive “bark-bark-woooo” to announce that he is ready for dinner. And with those big, adorable eyes and distinctive eyebrows, we can certainly understand why he was impossible to resist.

A heartfelt thank-you to Todd and Patricia for opening their home and hearts to these two boys, caring for them, and being there for them when they needed them most. They gave Spanky and Peanut something truly priceless: a loving home where they could stay together, surrounded by people who adored them. We are so incredibly grateful.

Happy life, Peanut! You are home.

🥔 Potato or should we call him Sweet Potato? This sweet boy is still looking for his forever home!

Potato is the happiest, sweetest little guy, and at just one year old, his favorite thing in the world is to PLAY! He’d love a home with other playful doggy friends or young children who are ready to have some fun.

And yes, Potato doesn’t see very well. But does that stop him? Not even a little bit. He gets around just fine and doesn’t let his limited vision keep him from enjoying life to the fullest. He’s proof that a little obstacle doesn’t have to stand in the way of a whole lot of happiness.

Potato also takes daily medication, which is affordable and easy to give. He takes it like a champ and then gets right back to the important stuff, like playing, being adorable, and generally living his best potato life.

So what are you waiting for? This sweet little pugtato is ready for his forever family! We have a feeling that once you meet him, you’re going to fall head over heels for this happy little guy.

Alert! Margot Louise has found her forever home!

Margot has officially found her happily ever after, and it sounds like she landed exactly where she was meant to be!

Her new family says Margot is “an absolute gem” and that she and her new sister, Hazel, were “instant besties.” The two girls do absolutely everything together, from playing fetch and tug of war to going on walks, eating, and following their mom everywhere. And, of course, Margot never turns down a good belly rub!

Her new family says, “We could not be happier here! Literally, the perfect match. It has been a seamless transition. We can’t imagine life without her; it was meant to be.”

Margot is keeping her name, too, now with the beautiful addition of Louise. It suits her perfectly and fits right in with Hazel Marie and Eugene Ray.

We couldn’t be happier for this sweet girl and her forever family!

Violet’s Second Chance Is Helping Save Others

In 2020, a scared young pug was found wandering the streets of Pflugerville. A police officer spotted her and saved her from being hit by a car. But she still needed saving. She had a fever and was suffering from mastitis, so she was admitted to Pug Rescue of Austin for life-saving emergency care. We named her Mama Pug.

Then Laura, an out-of-state adopter, saw her online. It was love at first sight, and Laura knew they were meant to be. She adopted Mama Pug, renamed her Violet, and today, Violet is living the good life in California. She enjoys visits to the dog park, trips to Starbucks, and being very much loved.

We absolutely love receiving happy updates from our past adopters, but this one came with an extra-special surprise. Laura recently made an incredibly generous $2,500 donation to Pug Rescue of Austin in Violet’s honor.

That gift allows us to say “yes” to more pugs in need, just like we once said yes to Mama Pug.

Thank you, Laura, for giving Violet her forever home and for paying her second chance forward to other pugs who need someone to say yes to them.

It’s our donors who make this life-saving work possible. Every donation, big or small, helps us rescue, care for, and change the lives of pugs in need.

Alert! Manhattan has found his forever home!

Or should we say Potato? His new family says their little Potato has been “the greatest addition to our family!”

They say he’s super sweet, and he loves sitting on top of the sofa, cuddling with his brother Ralphie, and being adorable together. Sounds like Potato is keeping his new family very entertained!

We couldn’t be happier for this sweet boy and his forever family.

Van Gogh & Rembrandt are ready to bring twice the love, twice the snuggles, and twice the fun to their forever home!

Just like their namesakes, these boys are truly masters of their craft, and their craft is being oh-so-lovable. Van Gogh is the one-eyed charmer with just a streak of mischief, while Rembrandt is the sweet, quiet cuddlebug.

These handsome four-year-old brothers are house trained, dog-friendly, wonderfully low-maintenance, and absolutely adorable.

Two brothers. One amazing duo. A whole lot of pug perfection!

Hi, we’re Howie and Vinny, a bonded pair of 5 to 6-year-old boys looking for a forever family who will love us both! We do just about everything together and are loyal, loving pugs who love being close to our people. We’ll happily follow you around the house, join you on the couch, and cuddle up with you whenever we get the chance. Add a soft blanket, and we’re in heaven!

We’re both sweet, gentle boys who are great with other dogs, cats, and kids. We’re potty trained and are at the very end of our crate training. We’re both doing great on our weight loss journey. And, in true pug fashion, we are very treat motivated! We’re still learning about toys, but we’ve discovered that soft puppy Nyla bones and the occasional Lamby are pretty fun.

I’m Howie, and I’m the playful one of the pair. I love sunbathing by your feet, flopping over for belly rubs, and occasionally doing a quick zoom around the house. I’m also an expert at relaxing and love snuggling between your legs, belly up, while you watch your favorite shows. I’m new to walks but you’d never know it because I’m already a pro! I love strutting around the neighborhood and I’m great on a leash. I do have some skin allergies, but they are easily managed with quarterly allergy injections.

And I’m Vinny! I’m a sweet, sweet baby with adorable puppy eyes, a silly little blep, and the softest coat you’ll ever feel. I love looking lovingly into your eyes, falling asleep in your arms, and getting chest scritches. Give me some scratches and I’ll lean right into you and show off my perfect little potato body. I’m very calm and not much of a runner, but when I get excited, I make the funniest little noises. I love walks too and I’m great on a leash.

We promise to fill your home with love, cuddles, and plenty of laughs every day. Since we’re bonded, we’ll need to be adopted together, but we promise you’ll be getting twice the pug love!
