Donate your Indian ethnic wear, so your less used kurta, ghagra, lehnga choli, dhoti, kurti and such ethnic wear can be worn by the needy in India during festivities. Isn't American Red Cross or Goodwill sufficient? Those are wonderful organizations, and we still need a group that focuses its donation around ethnic wear for children in India. Our children wear their ethnic clothes at most 6-8 time
s a year, and outgrow these minimally used clothes each year. As grownups we buy ethnic wear, There are very few, if any, organizations that collect such Indian ethnic wear for children and distribute to the needy in India. That's why, we wanted to run a drive once, ship to 2-3 credible groups in India who can distribute your donated clothes to the needy. Imagine the joy in the eyes of the child or an adult wearing such expensive ethnic wear in the next Indian festival. When is the next collection drive? Our first collection drive is ongoing, and we are using the Indian community's gatherings during the Holi festivities in March 2022 to spread good vibes. Donate any little used ethnic wear for girls and boys of upto 12 years old. And a little cash to help cover the hard costs (shipping and such)
Awesome, what else can I help with? Please contact us if you'd like to help with -
1. Organizing the donation drive
2. Recommendations to local credible groups in India who can receive the collected clothes, and distribute to the needy
3. Managing the social pages
4. Some cash to cover the hard costs
Oh, and what's Dao? It's a play of words to convey the ethos of a distributed autonomous organization (DAO). Sudeshna is starting the initial run, with the help of our initial donors and volunteers. After a few iterations, if we see meaningful progress, making it more distributed and autonomous would be so amazing.
