Girls everywhere are born with the inherent right to grow up in a world where their dreams and well-being are prioritized. This International Day of the Girl Child, Delta Sigma Theta is uplifting the charge to invest in girls’ rights and end child marriage.

According to UNICEF, every three seconds, a girl gets married somewhere in the world.

Delta Sigma Theta is commited to raising awareness of this prevalent issue and protecting girls around the world. Thank you to our National International Awareness and Involvement Subcommittee for their leadership and diligence toward the freedom of all girls.

The Augusta Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., in partnership with the Alpha Chi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and our community partners, proudly hosted a Candidate Forum for the Richmond County Board of Education Districts 2, 3, 6, 7, and 9.

This important forum provided an opportunity for candidates to share their plans, priorities, and vision for the future of our local schools while engaging directly with members of the community.

Our children deserve strong leadership, quality education, safe and supportive learning environments, and leaders who are committed to listening, serving, and moving our schools forward.

We are proud to create spaces where community members can become informed, ask meaningful questions, and participate in the civic process. When we are informed, engaged, and intentional about our voices, we help shape the future of our children and our community.

Because our voices matter. Our children matter. Our schools matter. And our community matters.

This forum was held for educational purposes only. The sponsoring organizations do not endorse or oppose any candidate or political party.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is more than pink ribbons, it’s a call to action.

1 in 8 women in the U.S. will develop breast cancer in their lifetime, and early detection increases survival rates by nearly 99% when caught at the localized stage. Knowing breast cancer exists isn’t enough. Prioritize your screenings, learn your risk factors, and encourage someone you love to do the same.

We honor survivors by staying proactive.
