The Greater Augusta Arts Council

The Greater Augusta Arts Council Our mission is to enrich lives in the Augusta River Region by advancing our vibrant, cultural arts.

Founded in 1968 by the Greater Augusta Chamber of Commerce, the Junior Woman’s Club, and the Junior League of Augusta to serve as an umbrella organization for the arts in Augusta, we have taken an active role in supporting Augusta’s cultural identity. We currently act as Augusta’s Public Art Agency, facilitating the creation of art in public spaces. We administer re-granting arts funds from the Ci

ty of Augusta through the City Arts Grants Program. We manage the Augusta Arts Calendar where you can see what arts events are happening with all their details in one location. We organize opportunities and events for both artists and art lovers, including the Arts in the Heart of Augusta Festival, a 2 1/2 day celebration of the varied arts and cultural diversity that make up Augusta. Other events and outreach programs we produce are: Aspirations workshop series, the annual Wet Paint Party and Sale, the annual Arts Day Luncheon, and the annual Arts Awards dinner. Additionally, we manage two public galleries: The City Gallery, located on the first flor of the Municipal Building at 535 Telfair Street, and The Gallery at Augusta & Co., Destination Augusta's flagship storefront of all things local and wonderful at 1010 Broad Street.

The Greater Augusta Arts Council extends our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and the entire Augusta Museum of History community on the passing of Executive Director Nancy Glaser.

Nancy’s years of dedicated leadership and service helped preserve, protect, and share the stories that make Augusta and our region who we are. Her commitment to our community’s history leaves a legacy that will continue well beyond her years of service.

We are grateful for the work she gave to Augusta, for the history she helped safeguard for future generations, and for her presence within our cultural community.

Nancy will be greatly missed.
With deepest sympathy,
The Greater Augusta Arts Council
