✨ Honoring Juneteenth Through Legacy and Excellence ✨

This Juneteenth, we celebrate freedom, resilience, and the extraordinary contributions of Black Americans who have shaped our culture and communities.

As a native of Augusta, Georgia, Jessye Norman inspired generations through her artistry, determination, and commitment to excellence. Her groundbreaking career opened doors in the world of opera while serving as a powerful example of what is possible when talent, education, and opportunity come together.

At Jessye Norman School of the Arts, we honor her legacy by empowering young people to discover their voices and pursue their dreams.

Happy Juneteenth. ❤️🖤💚

🇺🇸 What a wonderful afternoon we had last Sunday celebrating Flag Day and our Semiquincentennial: A Tapestry exhibit!

We were honored to bring our community together to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence through the creativity and vision of local and student artists. Each piece offered a unique perspective on America's past, present, and future, reminding us of the many stories that make up our nation's tapestry.

A special thank you to our featured performer, Russell Joel Brown, whose incredible performance made the celebration even more memorable.

We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to the National Society of The Colonial Dames of America- Augusta Chapter for sponsoring this event and helping make this meaningful celebration possible.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and to the artists who shared their talents and perspectives. Events like these remind us that art has the power to connect generations, inspire conversation, and bring communities together.

🇺🇸 Here's to celebrating our shared history and imagining the future together!

✨ Save the Date: Guiding Stars Gala 2026 ✨

Join us on October 22, 2026 for an unforgettable evening as Jessye Norman School of the Arts presents our annual gala, Guiding Stars.

This year, we're doing things a little differently. Set against the beautiful backdrop of the River Room, guests will enjoy an elegant seated dinner, inspiring performances, and a celebration of the individuals who help light the way for others.

Throughout history, stars have served as guides—helping travelers find their path and illuminating the darkness. In that same spirit, we are proud to honor Dr. Rosalyn Floyd, a guiding star for countless students, families, and members of our community.

Mark your calendars and join us as we celebrate the power of the arts, the strength of community, and those whose light helps others shine.

More details coming soon. ⭐

Why We Do What We Do 💜

On day 4 of Summer Camp, our students used pastels to create artwork inspired by their upcoming performance of A Dragon's Tail. As they explored color, creativity, and storytelling, they weren't just making art—they were developing as young artists, learning to express themselves, and building confidence in their own abilities.

At Jessye Norman School of the Arts, every brushstroke, every drawing, and every performance is an opportunity for students to discover their voice and realize their potential. Watching their creativity come to life is what makes this work so meaningful.

The art they create today helps tell the story they'll share on stage tomorrow. ✨🎨🐉
