We have a tractor!

A few weeks ago, we shared about a need at Matonyok Children’s Home in Tanzania: a tractor to help us cultivate more land and grow more food for the children.

And you came through! 🧡 Because of your incredible generosity, Matonyok now has a tractor!

Matonyok is a home that is growing, and this tractor will help us make the most of more land, grow more food, and provide not only for the children at Matonyok, but for children in surrounding homes as well.

This tractor is helping us build a more sustainable future, one where we can grow more, provide more, and care for more children.

Thank you for believing in the children of Matonyok and helping us plant seeds of hope. 🌱

PACK IT FOR PURPOSE. 🧡🌎

What a day. What a community. What a reminder that when people come together, generosity can go a very long way.

Our volunteers and their families showed up ready to Pack It for Purpose, and even the kids got in on the mission! They sold $700 worth of lemonade, with every dollar going toward helping children served by Children’s Refuge around the world!

And then there was the container…

39,300 pounds of hope is headed to the Democratic Republic of the Congo!

Inside, we packed:
• A 50' x 100' steel building, generously donated by Desoto Christian Academy
• A three-tier playground set, donated by Todd Ashabranner
• New clothing and school supplies donated by the Griffin community
• New children's athletic gear, donated by Joshua Brown
• A sound system for a church, made possible through the generosity of others

And this container was packed with more than supplies. It was packed with people saying yes.

A special thank-you to Pastors Trey Powell and Brian Scoggin, and to Center Point Church, Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, Griffin,GA, and City of Refuge South for being part of making this possible.

This is what happens when a community decides that children around the world are worth showing up for.

And we’re just getting started. 🧡

We’ll be doing this again! Our goal is to send another container as soon as we can, and it takes a community to make that possible. The cost to ship a container overseas is around $15,000, and if you’d like to help make that happen, we’d love for you to be part of it.

Join Children’s Refuge for Pack It for Purpose as we come together to fill a shipping container with much-needed supplies for children around the world.

There are several ways you can be part of this special day:

School supplies are urgently needed! Backpacks, notebooks, new socks for uniforms, pencils, pens, crayons, folders, and other essentials can make a lasting impact for a child preparing to learn.

Rescue is a powerful beginning, but it isn’t the end of the story.

A child’s life is shaped by the moments that come after.

The moment they feel safe.
The moment they sit down to a full meal.
The moment they walk into a classroom.
The moment they realize someone believes in them.
The moment they begin dreaming again.

Because rescue is just the beginning.

The story continues through the daily love, care, and community that surrounds them. Through people who choose to show up. People who choose to stay.

When Bienfait was born, his future looked impossible.

His mother died shortly after giving birth, and with no means to care for a newborn, his family was forced to make an impossible decision. This tiny infant arrived at our home in Goma fighting for his life. So vulnerable that, at first, no one even knew his name.

But God did.

Our dedicated team poured everything they had into caring for him. Feeding him, holding him, praying over him, and fighting alongside him through every fragile moment.

Today, Bienfait is a completely different little boy. He's healthy. He's in school. He's laughing, learning, and growing into the child God created him to be.

Bienfait was one of the very first four babies welcomed into our Infant Wing when it opened in 2022. Every time we see him running, smiling, and thriving, we're reminded that hope is never wasted.

This is why Children's Refuge exists.

To step into impossible situations. To protect the most vulnerable. And to watch God do what only He can do.

We're so thankful for little miracles like Bienfait.
