It starts with a child sitting in a classroom, learning to read.
It’s the first time they raise their hand because they know the answer.
It’s the moment they realize, “I can do this.”

Education gives children the opportunity to dream about what comes next.

PACK IT FOR PURPOSE. 🧡🌎

For the second time, communities came together to pack a container headed to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, this time with supplies to help meet the growing needs of the Children’s Refuge community.

A huge shoutout to The Griffin Cup - Ashleigh and Brett Upson - for sponsoring the $15,000 shipping cost. We are incredibly grateful for their generosity!

16,753 pounds are headed to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, including:

• 626 chairs for the new 500-person sanctuary and dining facility, donated by New Life Church, Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, Griffin,GA, The River of Life, and Todd Ashabranner
• A drum set for the new sanctuary
• 100 mattresses and pillows for two new dormitories being built to accommodate 100 more children
• Couches to help furnish the new buildings
• 2,136 pounds of medical supplies for the clinic
• 300 Christmas bags packed by volunteers and arriving about two weeks before Christmas 🎄

When we realized 100 new mattresses also meant 100 mattress protectors, people rallied! Donors gave and ordered from our Amazon Wishlist to help make sure every bed was ready.

Our first container carried the materials for an entire steel metal building. Now, that foundation is growing into two new dormitories and a new dining facility to serve even more children.

This day was truly a community effort.

Volunteers drove all the way from Columbus with River of Life Church, while the Campbell family from Life Church Huntsville in Huntsville, Alabama, made the trip over to serve.

Fortis Risk Group provided breakfast and had their entire staff volunteer. Pillar Heating and Cooling did the same, bringing their team to serve.

And then there were the countless people who donated, packed, loaded, purchased, gave, and simply showed up.

That’s what Pack It for Purpose is all about: people coming together to meet needs, create opportunity, and help build a future for children.

Griffin, you did it once, and now we’re coming together again! 📦🧡

Almost two months ago, our community came together to pack a shipping container for Children’s Refuge. Now, we’re packing our second container to help prepare a home for 100 additional children on our campus, a pavilion, a church, and a warehouse!

Our BIGGEST need is at least 100 waterproof twin mattress protectors, along with:
✨ Good, used toys for Christmas
✨ Household items in good condition
✨ Gym Equipment/Weights

There is so much possibility in a child’s future.

Every child deserves to know that their story can be different. That healing is possible, that they are deeply loved, and that their future can hold more than they ever imagined.

At Children’s Refuge, we create safe places where children can experience love, find healing, and begin to see a future filled with possibility.

We believe God can bring light into even the darkest places, and we are grateful to witness His hope taking root in the lives of children every day. 🧡

There’s something special about seeing this vision come to life! 🧱🧡

Take a look around Precious Kids Center and see the progress happening on the ground! What was once a vision is becoming a place where the lives of our 120+ kids with special needs will be impacted, leaders will be equipped, and God’s purpose will continue to unfold.

We’re incredibly thankful for everyone who is helping bring this vision to life. What is being built today will continue making a difference in the lives of these children for years to come. And we’re so grateful to be part of what God is doing through Precious Kids Center!

Something beautiful is happening at Rose of Sharon in Zimbabwe!

A new play center has officially opened, providing children with a safe and joyful place to play, learn, and simply enjoy being children. At the same time, ground has been broken for a new campus that will serve children from nursery all the way through college, and so much more!

We’re so grateful to see this vision becoming a reality and to witness the opportunities being created for children to grow, learn, and build a brighter future.

What begins with a place to play can become so much more when children are given the space, support, and opportunity to reach their God given potential. 🧡

What made our meal distribution in the DR Congo extraordinary wasn’t just the food; it was who helped serve it.

Our children, many of whom once arrived starving, sick, and alone, are now helping carry and distribute food to other children and families in need.

Children who once needed someone to show up for them are now showing up for others.

At Children’s Refuge, we see God’s love made visible when a child who once needed rescue becomes the one helping rescue someone else. 🧡

A huge thank you for the incredible generosity of SERV International and RYSR for making this day happen!
