Legal problems are one of the most common, and most overlooked barriers standing between Georgia veterans and stability. National research shows that 76% of low-income veteran households face at least one civil legal issue in a given year.

At our recent Veterans Legal Services Clinic in Augusta, veterans sat down one-on-one with local attorneys to get support in navigating legal challenges that can have a lasting impact on their families and future.

Su***de prevention can be a difficult and sensitive topic, but it’s a conversation we must be willing to have. By learning how to recognize the signs and respond with care, we can help ensure at-risk veterans receive the support they need.

At last week’s Community Partner Appreciation Night at Truist Park, we brought our veteran service partners together for Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) training and an important conversation about how we can better support at-risk veterans and strengthen su***de prevention efforts across our communities. Thank you to Noelle Beard for sharing your expertise with our partners and helping us expand awareness of this important resource.

While enjoying an Atlanta Braves game, we were reminded of the importance of our work and like a great baseball team, we must all play a role in winning this fight.

Ever thought you would see veterans smiling while filing their VA disability claims? 😁

We were honored to host veterans of all eras at Atlanta Technical College for our Veteran Benefits & Resource Expo last week. Hundreds of veterans received one-on-one support from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Georgia Department of Veterans Service to file disability claims, navigate benefits, and connect with trusted community resources, all in one place.

When we make it easier for veterans to access the benefits they've earned, smiles like these say it all.
