ASIKE is an Atlanta-based organization whose mission is to redefine the image of the African woman by empowering women of African descent through education, Information, advocacy and sisterhood. Our unified objective is to serve as a facilitative vehicle, for individuals, nonprofit organizations, the private sector, local and national governments, to examine, develop and share community-wide effor

ts in the economic, political and social progress of the woman of African descent. As the organization is based in Atlanta, our members participate in a number of local community activities, including AIDS Walk Atlanta, CARE International’s Runners CARE event, Habitat for Humanity activities and MedShare’s Volunteer program. In addition, we have hosted non-profit capacity building and Cultural Translation Seminars and Health Day for the Atlanta community.

Thank you for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to keep learning.

Sometimes, the greatest impact isn't measured by numbers.

It's found in a girl's confidence when she realizes someone believes in her.

It's in the excitement of learning something new.

It's in the courage to dream bigger.

And it's in the simple words: “Thank you.”

Why Does Education Matter to You?

Education can be a degree.

It can be a second chance.

It can be the confidence to speak up, the knowledge to make informed decisions, or the opportunity to imagine a future that once felt impossible.

For one person, education may have opened the door to a career.

For someone else, it may have changed the possibilities available to their family.

That is why education matters.

Progress Is More Than a Number.

When you see a progress report, the first thing you may notice is the grade.

But meaningful educational progress goes beyond numbers.

A progress report can help us understand how a student is developing, where she is improving, what challenges she may be facing, and where additional support could make a difference.

📚 A grade shows performance.
📈 Progress shows growth.
🌱 Consistency shows development over time.

A student may improve in a subject, become more confident about participating, develop stronger study habits, or learn how to overcome a difficult concept. These are important achievements—even when they don't always appear as a dramatic change in grades.

This is why tracking progress matters.

Lasting change rarely comes from one big moment. It grows through the small things we choose to do again and again.

Every Girl Has Strengths. Every Girl Deserves Opportunities.

Too often, conversations about education begin with what's missing.

Low resources.
Limited access.
Learning gaps.

But what if we shifted the focus?

What if, instead of asking "What's wrong?", we asked "What strengths does this girl already have?"

A strength-based approach to education recognizes that every girl has unique talents, abilities, and potential. Some are natural leaders. Others are creative thinkers, compassionate helpers, or curious problem-solvers. These strengths are the foundation on which confidence and lifelong learning are built.

The real challenge isn't a lack of potential—it's that many girls don't have equal access to the opportunities, resources, and support needed to develop their strengths.
