Grant Park Conservancy

Grant Park Conservancy We are committed to the restoration, beautification and maintenance of historic Grant Park.

If you'd like to support our mission, visit: https://www.gpconservancy.org/get-involved/support/ The Grant Park Conservancy (GPC) began as a group of concerned Atlanta residents who recognized the need to protect Grant Park, Atlanta's oldest city park, from the demands of growing use and declining maintenance. During an updated master plan process commissioned by the city of Atlanta Bureau of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs this group realized that the impetus to implement the new plan would come only from concerned citizens. The Conservancy was formed and now works to raise funds to carry out its mission and provide an enjoyable greenspace for families, visitors and residents of nearby neighborhoods.

πŸ™ Thanks to your support, we’re able to work with Woods Keeper to restore the park's native habitats and tackle invasive plants. 🌿 Over the past month, the team completed an inventory of plants at the Constitution Spring native garden, and removed chaff flower remnants at the wetlands and bush honeysuckle from the Cherokee slope. They’re also targeting porcelain berry, an invasive plant you may find in your own yard. 🌿 Porcelain berry is important to remove before its pretty, colorful fruit ripens, as the seeds have a very high germination rate. By getting to them early, we can help prevent them from spreading, and give native plants a better chance to thrive. 🌱 πŸ’š

πŸ™We’re so grateful to all the volunteers who joined us for our recent workday at the park!🌳Together, they tidied up and pruned plants around historic Erskine Fountain, spread mulch to prevent erosion and protect tree roots, removed invasive plants, and trimmed the hedges at the Park Care Center. πŸ“£A special shoutout to the Clark Atlanta University students for their great vibes and willingness to jump right in and get to work. As a small organization, we rely on volunteers to help care for the park. πŸ’š Thank you all for your hard work and support!
