This week we will walk the recently opened section of the PATH 400 multi-use trail. We will meet at 9am on Wednesday at the St.James Activities Building at 4400 Peachtree Dunwoody Road. We’ll walk to the new PATH entrance on Loridans, onto the new trail, over the high bridge at Mountain Way Commons Park, continue to Wieuca Road and return. It’s a 3-mile walk on a paved trail with some hills.

In the future, this new section will connect to the existing PATH 400 trail that goes all the way down to Lindberg and only a short missing section to connect to the 22-mile Beltline loop around Atlanta. Come along and join us!

One Sweet Offering

On Monday mornings, I open the safe to count the weekend offerings — a quiet, usually predictable task, full of familiar envelopes. Nothing too exciting — until recently, when I opened the safe there was envelope with a child’s handwriting, with the words "Church Offering"

My first thought was a parent allowed their child to help prepare the church offering and label the envelope. But when I opened it, I found a note: "22% of lemonade stand." I smiled! I was so touched to see that a child could be so generous.

When I told the staff about the sweet offering, Pastor Matt laughed and said, "I would have been going to the video game store." Generosity like this doesn't come naturally — it’s inspired. Learning to share is simply what you do with what you've been given. This child didn't just donate; they practiced stewardship.

Somewhere in our church family, some child already gets it — that giving can feel good, not as an obligation but as something worth doing with their own two hands — and their own lemonade stand. May we all learn to give like that: cheerfully, thoughtfully, and without needing anyone to notice.

✝️ The “SO, WHAT NOW?” occasional Sunday School Class will meet this Sunday, Aug. 23 from 9:40-10:10am in the LIBRARY (note room change). Sometimes known as the “Fast Class,” we will look at the scripture reading from this Sunday’s worship service then discuss what it says to each of us.

✝️ Does it stir us to action?
✝️ Does it light a Christian Spark?
✝️ Or do we struggle with it in some way?

Was there anything in the 8:45am service that spurs you to explore further? Bring your bulletin or pick one up on your way in and we will explore that scripture together. We hope to see you then.

Tom Evans reports: " ...more fun, low-key Pickleball this Sunday (8/23) from 4-6pm. All levels of players are welcome, including beginners who are interested in learning how to play this fast-growing game. Another great turnout last weekend, and we are hoping everybody will be up for another fun afternoon of pickleball this weekend too."
