Franklin Pond Chamber Music

Franklin Pond Chamber Music Franklin Pond Chamber Music is a unique chamber-music program for talented pre-college musicians.

Created as an opportunity for serious students to interact personally with highly qualified professionals, the program offers coaching with faculty members, masterclasses with guest artists, and special classes.. The Summer program runs for 4 weeks in July and the Fall Into Spring program runs from October until May. Students prepare for a final concert, as well as presenting informal and outreach performances. Our goal is to develop the artistic and interpretive talents of our students, as well as to strengthen their communication skills as developing musicians.

While our Fall Into Spring program is already in full swing, we are thrilled to finally share the video from our Summer Finale Showcase this past July!

This performance represents the culmination of four weeks of hard work, dedication, and incredible artistic growth from our hardworking young chamber musicians. It is a wonderful celebration of everything they achieved over the summer, and we are so excited to have many of these talented students return for the new Fall Into Spring season!

Have you heard the news about the new “top dogs” at The Pond? 🐾

After 25 incredible years leading Franklin Pond Chamber Music—and an astonishing 51 years with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra—our Founder and Artistic Director, Ronda Respess is officially stepping into a well-deserved retirement in 2027!

Ronda leaves behind an extraordinary legacy, and as she heads off to walk the dogs and stay in touch with our beloved alumni and donors, we are ready to flow into our next 25 years with fresh energy and vision.

We are thrilled to announce our new leadership team taking the reins in 2027:

✨ Melissa Klein (“Sophie”) as Executive Director
✨ Ginny Fairchild (“Daisy”) as Artistic/Musical Director

As Ronda (“Drama”) reminds us, it’s up to all of us to keep Franklin Pond the vital organization it has become and to support the young musicians who are the future of music.

Last night, the Onslow Quintet had the honor of performing at Mayor Andre Dickens’s signature event, "The Dream", supporting the Mayor's Youth Scholarship Program. It was such a beautiful evening celebrating with our city's changemakers who invest in the future of Atlanta's youth! 🎵✨

🎻 Big congratulations to violinist Tristan Lewis (Summer Intensive 2024 and Fall Into Spring 2025–26), who just won 1st place in the Musicians Union John Head Scholarship Competition! 🎉

This fall, Tristan is heading to Columbus State University’s Schwob School of Music, where he will study with Sergiu Schwartz.

Tristan graduated from Collins Hill High School and studied with Bob Anemone under the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s Talent Development Program.

Join us in wishing Tristan all the best as he takes this exciting next step! 🎶👏

What an unforgettable way to close out our season! 🎶✨

Our Summer Finale Showcase was truly magical from start to finish. We are SO proud of our students, who have worked incredibly hard all summer! 👏

The afternoon held an extra special surprise: a heartfelt retirement tribute to our very own Founder & Artistic Director, Ronda Respess! Ginny orchestrated an absolutely beautiful moment, gathering our faculty, some of Ronda’s professional friends, and students to perform a movement of Haydn’s Farewell Symphony.

True to tradition, musicians slowly left the stage one by one until only two remained, bidding a fond "goodbye" to celebrate Ronda's incredible legacy.
