drawchange

drawchange We empower impoverished children through the use of art therapy based programs. We are mostly in Atlanta, GA and internationally as well.

We contribute to the education of homeless, refugee, asylum-seeking, and at-risk 5-10-year-old children by bringing art into their daily lives. We provide the means to improve school attendance, leading to gains in academic performance. We supply the materials and art therapy-based instruction that inspire children to emerge from the poverty cycle.

This is a regular Tuesday.
Children connecting with a funny story they can return to whenever they’re feeling scared, sad, or frustrated. Connecting with volunteers. Connecting with each other. And simply…being children. 🧡

This is what happens when children are given a safe space to create, connect, and express themselves.

Not only is efficient when it comes to aiding children in their abilities to process and express emotion, but it also serves as a highly informative tool for adults to recognize a child’s inner world.

Every child deserves to know their strengths. We recently created our own “Strength Shields”. They were filled with ‘I am’ statements that reminded our children who they are and all they’re capable of! We believe art isn’t about creating the perfect masterpiece. It’s about processing our emotions and discovering the strength already inside. Our programs are not about producing masterpieces. They are way more than that! If you had to write one positive ‘I am’ statement on your own Strength Shield, what would it be? Share in comments!
