June is Homeownership Month, and throughout the month we'll be sharing stories that show the impact of homeownership beyond the front door.
The Carter Work Project brought national attention to Sylvan Hills, but the foundation of this community was being built long before the first wall went up.
Taka met fellow homebuyers Phileena and Maurica during Atlanta Habitat classes, but their friendship took shape on the build site. As future neighbors, they spent their days moving between one another’s homes painting walls, installing siding, sharing laughs, praying, and lending a hand wherever it was needed.
What they built together is bigger than a house.
They are beginning their homeownership journeys already surrounded by people who know their stories, celebrate their successes, and are invested in their future.
This is what community looks like.
This is what community builds.
As we celebrate Homeownership Month, we're highlighting the people, relationships, and opportunities that make homeownership so transformative.
Your support makes stories like this possible. Building a home is only part of the work. Building connections, trust, and belonging is what transforms a collection of houses into a thriving neighborhood.
