๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿพ A Gentle Reminder From H.E.A.R.T., Inc. ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’™
We receive a ton of requests from pet families all across the country. We wish we could help every single one of them. Truly. Our hearts want to say yes to everyone who reaches out.

But we are a small nonprofit with limited resources and a tiny volunteerโ€‘powered team. Right now we can only focus on the families who are able to bring their furbabies to our mobile clinic here in Maryland.

Please understand that we care deeply and we wish we could do more. Your kindness and understanding mean the world to us.

๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿพ Back to School Means Big Changes for Familiesโ€ฆ and for Pets Too ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’™
We hope everyone had an amazing first week back to school!!! Please remember that back to school time brings new schedules new routines and lots of changes for families. Pets feel those changes just as much as your kids do. When the house gets quieter during the day or mornings get busier pets can become confused stressed or lonely.

A few small steps can help your pets adjust:

๐Ÿ’™ Keep morning routines calm and predictable
๐Ÿ’™ Offer extra playtime or snuggles in the evening
๐Ÿ’™ Provide enrichment toys to keep them busy
๐Ÿ’™ Make sure senior pets and anxious pets get a little extra reassurance

Our pets thrive on consistency and connection. As your family settles into the school year remember that your furry family members are learning the new routine right along with you.

A little patience and a lot of love go a long way. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿพ

๐Ÿ’™ Meet Our Team Member: Jill Erickson ๐Ÿ’™
Jill first met the H.E.A.R.T., Inc. team through her volunteer and foster work with Anne Arundel County Animal Services. She continues to foster today often taking on the tougher medical cases and opening her home to pets who need dedicated medical care.

Before joining our staff Jill worked as an RN and brings compassion patience and caregiving experience to everything she does.

Jill has a heart of gold and somehow keeps everyone smiling even when she is the one who ends up covered in the worst bodily fluids our patients can produce.

We feel incredibly lucky that Jill went from volunteer to staff. Her kindness her willingness to help anywhere and her ability to handle anything make her an invaluable part of the H.E.A.R.T., Inc. family.

๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿพ Weโ€™re in Need of Peeโ€‘Pee Pads ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’™
Our tiny nonprofit clinic runs on compassion and community support and today we need a little help. We are running low on peeโ€‘pee pads, something we use every single day in the clinic.

Peeโ€‘pee pads keep our surgery patients clean and comfortable while they wake up from anesthesia. They help us line kennels for sick or senior pets who need extra care. They protect surfaces during exams and procedures. They make our work safer cleaner and more comfortable for the animals we love.

If you are able to donate some please email us at [email protected]. Every pack helps us care for more pets and keep our services accessible for families who need us.

Thank you for always lifting us up. We could not do this without you. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿพ

๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿพ How Spaying and Neutering Save Lives ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’™
At H.E.A.R.T., Inc. we talk about spaying and neutering a lot because it truly saves lives. Every single day we see the impact these surgeries have on the health and safety of pets in our community.

Spaying prevents dangerous and often lifeโ€‘threatening conditions like pyometra, a severe uterine infection that requires emergency surgery. Neutering helps reduce roaming fighting and injuryโ€‘prone behaviors and lowers the risk of certain cancers. These surgeries protect pets long before problems ever begin.

Spaying and neutering also reduce the number of homeless animals entering shelters. Fewer accidental litters mean fewer pets facing overcrowded kennels and fewer families struggling to find help. When we prevent unwanted litters, we prevent suffering.

Our mission is simple. Help pets stay healthy stay home and stay with the people who love them. Spay and neuter is one of the most powerful tools we have to make that happen.

Thank you for supporting responsible pet care and for helping us save lives every single day. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿพ

๐Ÿ’™ Meet One of Our Team Members
Crystal Strawbridge
Veterinary Assistant / Customer Service Representative

Crystal brings years of experience in animal sheltering and urgent veterinary care to the H.E.A.R.T., Inc. team. She first met our founders and several members of our staff while working at Anne Arundel County Animal Care & Control, where her compassion dedication and commitment to helping animals in need quickly stood out.

As she built her hands-on experience in sheltering and veterinary medicine Crystal continued her education to expand her knowledge and skills. Her drive to keep learning and growing reflects her genuine passion for animal welfare and her desire to help pets and the people who love them.

At H.E.A.R.T., Crystal is one of our versatile and essential team members. She assists with customer service and works alongside our veterinary team as a veterinary assistant. Whether she is helping a client caring for a patient or jumping in wherever she is needed she brings compassion experience and a willingness to help.

We are thrilled to have Crystal in the H.E.A.R.T. family and grateful to work alongside her again. Her kindness and dedication make her a wonderful addition to our team and a true advocate for the animals in our community.

Cocoa is a 9โ€‘yearโ€‘old sweetheart who was referred to us by a local ER for a closed pyometra. She is the third pyometra case weโ€™ve seen in just two days, which shows how common and dangerous this condition truly is.

Pyometra is a lifeโ€‘threatening uterine infection that can happen in unspayed female dogs and cats. A closed pyometra is especially dangerous because infection and pressure build inside the uterus with no way to drain. Pets can become critically ill very quickly and need emergency surgery to survive.

Cocoaโ€™s ER team acted fast and we were able to take the next steps in her care. Cases like hers are exactly why we talk so much about spaying. It isnโ€™t just about preventing unwanted litters. It prevents suffering. It prevents emergencies. It saves lives.

๐Ÿ’™ Why Spaying Matters
Prevents pyometra entirely

Reduces risk of mammary cancer

Helps avoid costly emergency surgeries

Keeps pets healthy and comfortable as they age

We know these emergencies are scary for families. We also know many people donโ€™t realize pyometra exists until it happens to their pet. Sharing Cocoaโ€™s story helps us educate our community and hopefully prevent more pets from facing this dangerous condition.

Thank you to the ER team who referred her and to everyone who supports our mission. Education saves lives just as much as surgery does. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿพ
