Anne Arundel County Animal Care & Control is urgently looking for the owner of "Roman," the shelter name it has given this young male Boston terrier, who was found as a stray. If his owner is not located to provide proof that he has been vaccinated against rabies, Roman will have to undergo a strict four-month rabies quarantine because he has wounds of unknown origin that could have come from another animal.
Roman weighs 28 pounds and is estimated to be just under a year old. He has a "cherry eye," which is not unusual in his breed and can be corrected with relatively inexpensive surgery. He came to AACACC April 21 after being found in a Glen Burnie neighborhood bounded by Route 100, Interstate 97 North and Quarterfield Road. If you live in this area, please consider printing and distributing this flyer. We hope readers throughout the county will SHARE Roman's flyer on their pages and on local social media, as there is no guarantee that he is not from some other location.
State law requires that a dog or cat without a known vaccine history who may have been exposed to a rabid animal either be immediately vaccinated and undergo a four-month quarantine or be euthanized. If there is proof that the dog or cat has had a rabies vaccination, the quarantine period is reduced to 45 days.
The shelter notes that there already has been tremendous interest in Roman from potential adopters as well as a breed-specific rescue partner, so it is no longer taking additional applications for him.
Thank you, everyone!
