Homes For America

Homes For America Our approach is rooted in a holistic understanding of housing as more than just a physical space.

Homes for America is a nonprofit affordable housing developer making homes come true by creating quality, service-enriched, sustainable communities that foster dignity, respect, and opportunity for all, serving as the foundation for a brighter future. Homes for America (HFA) is a nonprofit affordable housing organization dedicated to making homes come true by creating and preserving quality, affor

dable housing communities that foster resident success and well-being. Since its founding in 1994, HFA has been a pivotal force in the Mid-Atlantic region, focusing primarily on Maryland and expanding efforts in Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. With a mission to provide stable, service-enriched housing, HFA connects residents with essential services and opportunities, ensuring they live with dignity and respect. At HFA, we believe a home should support health, education, and economic stability. This philosophy drives us to offer a range of resident services, including health and wellness programs, financial assistance, educational opportunities, and community connectivity initiatives. Our Service-Enhanced Housing model ensures that residents are active participants in shaping the programs and services available in their communities. HFA’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is reflected in all aspects of our work. We strive to create inclusive communities where every resident feels safe, respected, and supported. Our development projects prioritize sustainability and environmental stewardship, aligning with our goals to reduce our ecological footprint and build climate-resilient communities. By leveraging partnerships with public, private, and community-based agencies, we provide comprehensive support that enhances residents' quality of life. As we continue to grow and evolve, HFA remains focused on its core values: resident-centered decision-making, high-quality services, dismantling structural racism in housing, and fiscal responsibility. Our dedication to these principles ensures that we not only meet the housing needs of today but also pave the way for a brighter, more equitable future for all our residents.

The rain held off just in time for Windsor Gardens' End of School Bash!

Residents enjoyed hot dogs, goodie bags, and connections with community partners like the Judy Center and Boys & Girls Club, which shared valuable resources for families heading into summer.

A great way to celebrate the start of summer break! Events like these highlight the importance of funding resident services that connect families to programs, support, and opportunities that help communities thrive.

At Homes for America, we believe housing should create opportunity far beyond having a place to live. Through our partnership with Esusu, residents can build credit simply by paying rent on time.

In Q1 2026:
🏠 121 residents became credit-visible for the first time
🏠 58% of enrolled residents improved their credit scores
🏠 Residents gained stronger access to mortgages, auto loans, education funding, and more

Every rent payment has the potential to open new doors, and we’re proud to help make that possible for residents at every income level.

This National Preservation Month, Homes for America is proud to celebrate the restoration and preservation of Clare Court II, a historic Baltimore property whose legacy of service dates back more than a century.

Originally established in 1917 by the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi as the St. Elizabeth’s Home for Female Colored Orphans, the historic Clare Court campus has long served Baltimore communities in need. Today, through the restoration and adaptive reuse of this historic site, Homes for America is preserving that legacy while creating modern, affordable housing opportunities for residents and families.

Clare Court II reflects the power of preservation to honor history, strengthen communities, and create lasting impact for future generations. By thoughtfully restoring this historic property, we are ensuring that its mission of care and community continues for years to come.
