It was such a tree-at seeing everyone come out to Goodwin Park in Prince George’s County to celebrate our Urban Trees Program and the start of fall planting season! 🌳

Today, we announced our fifth year of awards through the Urban Trees Program: over $8.9 million for 31 community projects to plant nearly 22,000 trees across Maryland.
 
We’re grateful to Comptroller Brooke Lierman (Comptroller of Maryland Brooke Lierman); Senator Joanne Benson (Senator Joanne C. Benson); Delegates Derrick Coley (Delegate Derrick L Coley MD D-24), Tiffany T. Alston (Tiffany Alston), Karen Toles (Delegate Karen R. Toles, JD), and Kent Roberson (Delegate Kent Roberson); Mayor Kelly Porter (City of Seat Pleasant); Maryland Department of the Environment Deputy Secretary Adam Ortiz (MD Dept. Of The Environment); BGE (Baltimore Gas & Electric); and our partners at the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (Maryland DNR), Maryland Department of Transportation (Maryland Department of Transportation), and Maryland Department of Agriculture (Maryland Dept. of Agriculture)for joining us to celebrate this milestone.
 
Special shout out our host and grantee Joe’s Movement Emporium (Joe's Movement Emporium) for leading a tree planting with the City of Seat Pleasant. The trees planted today mark the beginning of thousands of new trees taking root across Maryland this fall! 🌱

Last night was easel-y the best way we could’ve ended our Creative Conservation Art Exhibit! ✨🎨
 
A huge thank you to Maria Gilroy of McCormick Paints for leading a Bay Talk on biophilic design and exploring how nature influences and inspires us. We learned how to bring the beauty of a sunset, a forest, or a beach into our own homes through nature-inspired colors and design. 🌅🌿
 
We’re also so grateful to all the talented artists who contributed their work to the exhibit and to Atlantic Union Bank for their generous sponsorship. 💙 Thank you for helping us celebrate the beauty of our region and the many ways art and nature bring us together! 🦀🌊🐚🍃

We’d love for you to join our team and help support our Environmental Education Program, Youth Environmental Education Program, and several other initiatives focused on advancing regional environmental literacy. 
 
Some of the roles and responsibilities of this role include:
🤝 Supporting administration of the Outreach and Education team’s award programs
🍁 Supporting applicants as they develop project proposals
✨ Helping awardees throughout their programs
📝 Overseeing proposal reviews
💻 And using the Trust’s online award-making system
