There's ample evidence that invasive catfish are wreaking havoc in the Chesapeake Bay and the rivers and streams that feed it. But...they're not so bad in this context!

As part of our DC member in-person meeting, the Coalition got the chance to tour DC Water's Blue Plains, the largest advanced wastewater treatment facility.

Built in 1937 as a primary treatment facility that simply separated solids, the plant has been upgraded to an advanced system that removes bacteria, nitrogen and phosphorus from about 300 million gallons of wastewater a day. That includes wastewater from DC, but also parts of Maryland and Virginia as well!

Treating our wastewater is a critical part of making sure our rivers and drinking water remain clean and safe. Learn more at choosecleanwater.org.
