Last month, we shared that 167 young people had enrolled in Work Ready Alaska.

We are excited to announce that number has grown to 233 young people.

Since the program launched in March, 75 participants have reported an increase in their income. Youth are earning driver's licenses and working toward their GEDs.
These are important steps toward independence and long-term employment.

In collaboration with Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities and Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Alaska, Work Ready Alaska is open to Alaskans aged 16 – 25 facing any barrier to employment.

Volunteer Highlights! 💙

The National Tribal Child Support Association held its annual conference in Anchorage this year and chose us as the beneficiary of its service project.

Together, volunteers packed 36 Housing Starter Kits and 250 Hygiene Kits!

The Little Luxuries Chapter organized a self-care night for our young people, complete with face masks, nail care, pizza, a movie, conversation and goody bags.

Thank you to both groups for showing up for our youth, and we're so grateful for all of our volunteers!

After working hard to build stability, many young people move into their first home with only a few personal belongings.

A Housing Starter Kit provides household essentials that help them get settled and care for their own space.

One kit costs about $114. Monthly donors help make sure there’s one ready for every young person who takes this step.

Anne Farrell, PhD, a national expert on youth homelessness prevention, will deliver the keynote, followed by panel discussions and open conversation focused on turning understanding into action.

The Summit will conclude with a candlelight vigil before Sleep Out: Corporate Edition begins at the Alaska Native Heritage Center.

💙 Mission Moments are stories from our staff that highlight the progress and milestones of the young people enrolled in our programs. 💙

Jacklyn* recently moved into her first apartment.

She was eager to move through the process quickly, but soon learned that securing an apartment takes time.

With support from a team member, Jacklyn patiently worked through each step and stayed focused on her goal.

Today, she has a secure place of her own and continues to receive support as she settles into this next chapter.

We’re proud to see Jacklyn take ownership of her housing journey and build a future of her own!

💙 Giving Tree sign-ups for the holiday season are now open!

Host a tree at your business, church, or group and bring holiday gifts to young people at Covenant House Alaska. 💙

Set up a tree at your business, church, or group with our provided paper ornaments. Each indicates a gift or need from a young person at Covenant House Alaska.

People pick an ornament, buy the item, and bring it back to the Giving Tree host. You'll bring all the gifts to us, and our volunteer team makes sure they’re ready for Christmas!

Sign up by September 30. Tree kits are delivered by October 30, and gifts are due back by December 14.
