The Charities Aid Foundation World Giving Report 2026: Charity Insights gives us an opportunity to listen, learn, and work together to strengthen the conditions in which civil society can thrive.

Funding remains a central challenge, but 92% of charities say there is at least one way funders support them beyond financial fitness. Two-thirds of charities say that funders could better support them by facilitating opportunities for networking and learning.

Opening a door, making an introduction, convening peers, or sharing useful knowledge can extend support beyond the grant itself. When combined with unrestricted or flexible grants, funders can support capacity building and empower charities navigate challenges with greater confidence.

By listening to what charities are asking for, we can all play an even greater role in strengthening the ecosystems that help civil society thrive.

After the loss of her parents at the age of seven, Rehema Konza's childhood was marked by food insecurity, limited educational resources, and the daily realities of living in poverty.

Now, Rehema runs WEEDO-Women Empowering and Entrepreneurship Development Organization, a nonprofit based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania committed empowering young women vulnerable to social inequities. Since launching, WEEDO has empowered more than 200 young women through skills development and workforce readiness initiatives, with approximately 60% of participants going on to secure employment in tailoring and retail, or start their own businesses.

This impact was made possible through the support of donors both in Tanzania and abroad. Through a Friends Fund at CAF America, WEEDO unlocked a new pathway to receive contributions from U.S.- based supporters, expanding their donor base and strengthening their ability to help more young women.

What does it take to transform memory into meaningful change? At the Museo Memoria y Tolerancia in Mexico City, it’s a blend of powerful storytelling, innovative education, and strategic partnerships.

Since 2011, the Museum has:
🏛️Educated 5.8 million visitors with exhibitions on the Holocaust and other genocides
🧑‍🏫Trained 244,000 teachers to lead conversations on human rights
🛜Engaged over 1 million online learners

In 2023 alone, 55,000 children returned to the museum with full scholarships for transport, meals, and admission.

By combining deep historical memory with forward‑looking outreach, the Museum of Memory and Tolerance in Mexico City is equipping the next generation to confront intolerance with empathy and action. The World Giving Report 2026: Donor Insights told us why people give, and now, new research from Charities Aid Foundation tells us the other side of the giving story. By bringing together the perspectives of both donors and charities, we can build a richer understanding of global giving and strengthen the connections that underpin a thriving civil society.

The World Giving Report 2026: Charity Insights brings together the views of more than 5,000 charity leaders across 33 countries to explore the health of the global charity sector, the pressures organizations face, and what could help them become more resilient.

The findings reveal a global sector showing resilience and adaptability while navigating rising demand, funding pressures and an increasingly complex operating environment. While 56% of charities consider the sector in their country to be healthy, funding remains a key challenge for eight in ten organizations.
