World Hope International Empowering vulnerable communities with opportunity, dignity & hope.
(2)

Our programs bring tangible and positive change to the individuals we work with, who then go on to transform their communities and their countries. We base what we do on long-term results: we offer much more than charity, we provide resources and knowledge to the poor, so they can ultimately become agents of change within their communities.

World Hope International CEO Jenn Petersen was invited to speak at The Wesleyan Church's 2026 General Conference, sharing a message rooted in Romans 12 and the call to become living sacrifices.

One line in particular stayed with us:

"Something must die. But not your calling. Not your future. Your grip on control."

Mic drop.

In a world that teaches us to protect, preserve, and promote ourselves, the invitation of Jesus is radically different. The life of faith is not about losing who we are. It is about surrendering who we think we must be apart from Him.

We're grateful for Jenn's leadership and for the continued partnership of The Wesleyan Church, whose commitment to sacrificial love is expressed not only from the platform, but through decades of faithful support for communities around the world.

Because when people choose to lay down comfort, certainty, and self-interest, hope rises. Clean water flows. Families find protection. Children discover new possibilities. Communities begin to flourish.

Thank you, Wesleyan church family, for continuing to live this message and helping bring hope to places where it is needed most.

As health officials monitor the spread of Ebola in parts of Central Africa, World Hope teams are actively preparing to respond if the virus spreads into Sierra Leone or Liberia, where we serve.

There are currently no confirmed cases in either country. Even so, preparation is already underway.

World Hope’s Crisis Management Team is coordinating proactive response plans designed to help protect staff, local partners, and vulnerable communities. This includes ongoing monitoring, health and safety planning, communication systems, and local response readiness.

Strong community relationships and trusted local partnerships are critical in moments like these. Effective humanitarian response begins long before a crisis arrives.

Would you join us in praying:
• For the successful containment of the virus
• For wisdom and readiness for response teams
• For peace and courage for vulnerable communities
• For government and health leaders making critical decisions

This is what preparedness looks like. Through your partnership, World Hope is able to stand alongside communities before a crisis arrives—strengthening local capacity, supporting trusted partners, and helping ensure people are not facing uncertainty alone.

Protecting children. Restoring hope. Rebuilding Haiti’s future.

In Haiti, children are facing growing challenges. According to UNICEF, child recruitment by armed groups increased by nearly 200% in 2025—a sobering reminder of the need for protection and care.

But there is hope.

World Hope International Haiti is responding through Bridge of Hope, an initiative providing psychosocial support to children, families, and educators in affected communities.

Through this program:
✔️ Children receive care to help process trauma
✔️ Teachers are equipped to respond with compassion
✔️ Psychologists are present in schools to support families

This work is helping rebuild trust, strengthen resilience, and restore hope.

Because every child deserves safety.
Every child deserves dignity.
Every child deserves a future.

Real change grows from within communities.

In Liberia, World Hope International’s Enable the Children program is investing in young leaders—equipping two college students with the skills to become future trainers and educators.

These students, already rooted in their communities, are building technical knowledge and facilitation skills that will allow them to train others and expand impact even further.

This is more than training.
It’s a pathway to leadership.
It’s a commitment to community-led transformation.

By investing in local talent, we are strengthening long-term solutions and creating opportunities for young people to lead change where they live.

Stronger partnerships lead to safer communities.

Through the FID Project, World Hope International–Liberia’s Social Protection Team conducted a nine-day stakeholder engagement training across Grand Cape Mount, Bomi, and Montserrado Counties—bringing together 150 stakeholders to strengthen responses to gender-based violence and human trafficking.

In collaboration with the Women and Children Protection Section of the Liberia National Police and the Ministry of Labor’s Trafficking-in-Persons Section, participants from schools, communities, government, and civil society worked together to build stronger systems of protection.

Together, they:
✔️ Strengthened coordination across counties
✔️ Improved referral pathways for survivor support
✔️ Increased awareness of laws and community protections
✔️ Built capacity to identify and respond to protection concerns

This is what partnership looks like—communities, leaders, and institutions working together to create safer environments for everyone.

When teachers are equipped, classrooms begin to change.

In October 2025, World Hope International’s Enable the Children program hosted a training on inclusive education for teachers working with children with disabilities in Sierra Leone.

For Mr. Turay, a head teacher in Freetown, the experience was transformative.

He shared that the training helped him better understand the daily challenges some children face—especially those who may struggle to communicate, learn at a different pace, or participate independently.

“It was eye-opening,” he shared, as teachers engaged in hands-on activities that deepened empathy and strengthened their commitment to inclusive classrooms.

A powerful moment came when Sorie Bangura, now a staff member with Enable the Children, shared his personal journey—reminding educators what is possible when children are supported and included.

Following the training, Mr. Turay took action—training his own teachers and creating new opportunities for inclusion. For the first time, children with disabilities participated in school sports and were celebrated alongside their peers.

Today, the school is building a culture where every child is valued, welcomed, and encouraged to thrive.

Some stories are never seen.
Some burdens are never spoken.

But every day, social workers like Meg choose to walk alongside survivors—bringing hope in the hardest moments.

For five years, Meg has served with World Hope International in the Philippines, supporting children who have experienced abuse and exploitation. Her work is not about quick solutions—it’s about presence, patience, and walking with survivors as they heal.

One young girl, after experiencing deep loss and trauma, began to lose hope. Through consistent care and support, she slowly began to rebuild her life.

Today, she is back in school. She is thriving.

“Walking closely with survivors has taught me to listen more deeply… and trust the power of presence over quick solutions.”

This is what hope looks like—quiet, steady, and life-changing.

When the Church begins to see differently, everything changes.

Through the Enable the Children (ETC) program, World Hope International facilitated Disability Awareness and Church Inclusion trainings, bringing together 71 pastors and church leaders from the Wesleyan National Convention, Harvest Intercontinental Ministries Unlimited, Mountain of Faith Ministry, and Agape Evangelistic Ministry.

This was more than training—it was a shift in mindset.

At Harvest Intercontinental Ministries, one pastor shared a powerful testimony after losing a limb. He challenged a common belief in his community:

“Healing does not always come the way we expect. And lack of healing is not lack of faith; God still works in ways we may not understand.”

At the Wesleyan gathering, a bishop described the experience as:

“Eye-opening.”

A moment already shaping how the Church rethinks its role in embracing all people.

And at Agape Evangelistic Ministry, another pastor shared how this teaching is helping transform understanding:

“This teaching will help pastors move away from seeing children with disabilities as demon-possessed, to seeing them as children who deserve love, care, and inclusion.”

This is what transformation looks like—churches choosing dignity, challenging harmful beliefs, and opening their doors wider than ever before.

Like and share to support inclusion.
