The ATA is a professional association founded to advance the translation and interpreting professions and foster the professional development of individual translators and interpreters. Its 11,000 members in more than 90 countries include translators, interpreters, teachers, project managers, web and software developers, language company owners, hospitals, universities, and government
agencies. The Arabic Language Division page will focus on translation and interpretation of Arabic, but will also focus on Arab culture, as the two can not be separated. في سلسلة تاريخ الوصال، نعود إلى الشخصيات التي حملت المعرفة بين الحضارات وأسهمت في تشكيل أجيال من طالبي العلم.
كان ابن رشد فيلسوفاً ومترجماً أعادت شروحه لأعمال أرسطو الوضوح إلى الفلسفة الكلاسيكية.
وفي زمنٍ كانت فيه كثير من النصوص اليونانية غير متاحة أو مُساء فهمها، جسّر عمله بين الفكر القديم والدراسات المعاصرة.
وانتقلت كتاباته من العربية إلى اللاتينية والعبرية، مؤثّرةً في المفكّرين الأوروبيين لقرون طويلة.
وقد أسهم عمل ابن رشد في تشكيل النقاشات حول المنطق والعقل والأخلاق عبر ثقافات متعددة.
ويعكس إرثه كيف تستطيع الترجمة أن تُعيد وصل الإنسانية بجذورها الفكرية.

Amidst the bustle of daily life and work pressures, we all yearn for the warmth of the spoken word. The Arabic Language Division of the American Translators Association is honored to invite you to an evening of thematic poetry recital “In Love with the Arabic Language... and the Fragrance of Ancient Cities” via Zoom.

It is a soulful journey celebrating the Arabic language, evoking the scent of deserts and the fragrance of ancient cities, the magic of eloquence and the sweetness of poetic rhythm, and the rich, unifying, evolving tapestry of Arabic poetry that spans millennia. Join us as we traverse paths, alleyways, and turns teeming with magnificent meanings and masterful artistry. We will explore selections of the finest verses, spanning wisdom, contemplation, imagery, love, romance, longing, and nostalgia; drawn from different eras of Arabic literary history.

هي رحلة وجدانية في عشق لغة الضاد، في رائحة الصحارى وعطر المدن العتيقة، في سحر البيان وعذوبة الأوزان، وفي الثقافة الشعرية العربية المتنوعة والجامعة والمتطورة والممتدة عبر ألوف السنين. سنأخذ بأيديكم لنطوف معا دروبا وأزقة ومنعطفات زاخرة بروعة المعاني وصنعة الشعراء البارعين من خلال قراءة مقتطفات من أجمل ما قيل في الحكمة والتأمل والوصف والعشق والغزل والشوق والحنين من مراحل مختلفة من تاريخ الأدب العربي.
