FDA is finally taking steps to bring more transparency to what’s in America’s food supply. That’s good news. But getting GRAS reform right matters.

The FDA’s newly proposed changes to the Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) system would require greater disclosure of ingredients entering our food supply, addressing a longstanding transparency problem.

But there’s a catch.

The proposal could also subject natural ingredients with long histories of safe use to burdens similar to those placed on genuinely novel substances. Modern extracts, concentrates, fermented ingredients, standardized botanicals, and other natural compounds could face costly regulatory hurdles that make it harder for smaller companies to innovate and bring these products to market.

For consumers, that could ultimately mean fewer functional foods and beverages, less choice, less innovation, and potentially higher prices.

We don’t have to choose between food safety and access to natural products.

We need rational GRAS reform that increases transparency while taking a risk-based approach to regulation.

Take Action: Call for Rational GRAS Reform

The FDA is accepting public comments on its proposed rule. Tell the agency to modernize the GRAS system without creating unnecessary barriers for safe, natural ingredients.

Post a comment to the FDA docket today and make your voice heard.

The childhood vaccine schedule could be headed for a major reset.

A sweeping new Executive Order could reshape federal childhood vaccine policy, including which vaccines are universally recommended, how vaccines are timed and sequenced, and how much discretion parents and clinicians have in making decisions for individual children.

It also calls for new research into vaccine safety, including closer examination of aluminum adjuvants, improved safety monitoring, and studies of vaccine timing and sequencing.

Another significant change? The order calls for separate measles, mumps, and rubella vaccines to eventually be available alongside the combined MMR vaccine.

For years, ANH-USA has advocated for greater transparency, informed consent, patient choice, and more rigorous examination of the childhood vaccine schedule as a whole.

Now, some of those questions are moving to the center of federal policy.

There is a lot in this Executive Order, and the details matter.

Congress is deciding the future of CBD and full-spectrum h**p products, and the stakes are high.

A sweeping federal h**p ban could make many non-intoxicating, full-spectrum products illegal, limiting access for consumers and threatening farmers and small businesses.

But there is a better path.

The Cannabinoid Safety and Regulation Act (CSRA) would replace the ban with a comprehensive regulatory framework designed to protect consumers while preserving access to CBD and the naturally occurring cannabinoids found in h**p.

Additional legislation, S. 3686/H.R. 7024, would extend the implementation window from one year to three, giving Congress time to develop sensible regulations instead of allowing an entire industry to collapse under an unworkable deadline.

We need smart regulation that addresses intoxicating products, adulteration, deceptive marketing, and sales to minors without eliminating responsible, non-intoxicating h**p products.

Take action: Support the Cannabinoid Safety and Regulation Act and urge Congress to protect access to full-spectrum h**p.

What if loneliness isn’t just something we feel but something our bodies experience as a threat?

Research increasingly shows that social isolation can affect far more than our emotional wellbeing. Chronic disconnection has been linked to:

• Increased stress and inflammation
• Changes in immune function
• Cardiovascular and metabolic problems
• Disrupted sleep
• Cognitive decline
• Changes in the gut microbiome

In fact, the World Health Organization reports that roughly 1 in 6 people worldwide experiences loneliness.

Our latest article, “The Loneliness Epidemic,” explores why human connection is such an important part of whole-body health, what’s driving increasing social isolation, and practical ways we can begin rebuilding meaningful connection in our everyday lives.

One simple framework highlighted in the article is the 5-3-1 approach:

5 — Spend time with five different people each week
3 — Nurture three close relationships
1 — Aim for one hour of quality social interaction each day

Human connection isn’t a luxury. It may be one of the foundations of health.

The FDA's Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee just voted in favor of preserving access to six important compounded peptides, including BPC-157, MOTS-c, KPV, TB-500, Epitalon, and Semax.

That's encouraging news for patients and practitioners who rely on personalized medicine.

But here's the catch:

This vote is only a recommendation. The FDA can still reject it during the formal rulemaking process.

The bigger issue extends beyond peptides. If compounded medicines are held to the same drug approval standards as patented pharmaceuticals, many personalized, non-patentable therapies could become unavailable, not because they don't help patients, but because no company can afford to fund the type of trials the FDA is demanding.

Patients deserve safe, lawful access to compounded medicines through qualified healthcare providers...not a system that pushes people toward an unregulated gray market.

Read the full article to understand what's at stake, then take action by urging the FDA, PCAC, and Congress to protect access to these important therapies.

Most people assume every ingredient in our food is carefully reviewed by the FDA before it reaches our grocery store shelves.

The reality is far more complicated.

The system that governs food ingredient safety—known as GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe)—needs reform. But simply eliminating the self-GRAS pathway isn't the answer.

Many of the food additives people are most concerned about weren't introduced through self-GRAS at all. They were explicitly approved by the FDA.

Real reform means increasing transparency, strengthening oversight, and fixing the parts of the system that aren't working...without creating unnecessary barriers for ingredients with well-established safety records.

We're calling on Congress and the FDA to pursue common-sense reforms that restore integrity to our food system.

Read the article, learn what's really at stake, and send a message to support smarter GRAS reform.

For years, asking whether COVID-19 may have originated from a laboratory was often dismissed as misinformation.

Now, newly released diary entries from Dr. Anthony Fauci reveal that senior scientists were discussing that very possibility in the earliest days of the pandemic.

The article examines:
• What Fauci's private diary records reveal
• Why the public narrative shifted so quickly
• His recent Senate testimony and repeated invocation of the Fifth Amendment
• Why transparency, accountability, and scientific integrity matter for public trust

Whatever your perspective on COVID's origins, science depends on asking difficult questions...not shutting them down.

What’s actually in the wildfire smoke you’re breathing?

When wildfires blanket communities in smoke, air quality alerts typically focus on PM₂.₅: the amount of fine particulate matter in the air.

But that leaves another important question:

What chemicals may be traveling on those particles?

Forests and other lands can be repeatedly treated with glyphosate and other herbicides. When those areas burn, pesticides and their breakdown products may be transformed, volatilized, or carried with smoke over long distances.

Yet there is a major gap in what we know.

There appears to be little to no direct monitoring for glyphosate, its persistent breakdown product AMPA, or their combustion byproducts in wildfire smoke.

If millions of people are being exposed to wildfire smoke, shouldn’t we know more about what they’re actually breathing?

In this guest article from Michelle Perro, MD, “Forest Fires and Glyphosate: An Examination of the Unspoken,” takes a closer look at the science, the unanswered questions, and the regulatory blind spot that deserves far more attention.

Then take action.

Tell Congress, the EPA, and USDA to investigate glyphosate and other pesticides in wildfire smoke and expand monitoring beyond simply measuring particulate matter.

What if the supplements you rely on became harder to find, more expensive, or disappeared from the market altogether?

A major doctors’ group is urging Congress to give the FDA sweeping new authority over dietary supplements, including drug-style premarket approval and mandatory product registration.

That could have serious consequences for your access to vitamins, minerals, herbs, probiotics, higher-dose nutrients, practitioner-grade formulas, and innovative natural health products.

Supplements are already regulated. The FDA and FTC already have authority to act against adulterated products, contamination, hidden drug ingredients, false labels, and fraudulent claims.

The answer isn’t to regulate supplements like pharmaceuticals.

Yet the push for mandatory supplement listing is back in Congress, and we need to stop it.

Why does this matter? A mandatory database could give the FDA a roadmap of the entire supplement marketplace, making it easier to target higher-dose or specialized products, while increasing compliance costs that could push smaller companies and innovative products out of the market.

Your access to supplements should not depend on whether a product can survive a drug-style regulatory system.

Read our new article to understand what’s at stake, then take action.

Tell Congress to OPPOSE mandatory filing for dietary supplements and protect your access to natural health options.
